It works with iPhones
I use this adapter to record two separate audio channels to my iPhone. I didn't know if it was going to work but it worked beautifully. I have a voice on channel one and music on channel two and could either use both sounds or just the voice without the music and the music without the voice.
I used it with a Rode AI Micro user interface and selected "split" on Rode's configuration settings. But the sound will be stronger if you connect and audio mixer such as Beachtek DXA micro pro + to the Rode interface.
I am very happy with this adapter . It was the "missing piece" I needed to make of my iPhone a complete camera for news shooting. Now I can record an interviewee's voice on on the left channel using a lavaliere mic and ambient sound on the right channel using Sennheiser MKE 400 shotgun (compatible with iPhone) at the same time. I could also use the MKE 400 for a back up recording of the interview and "bracket" the sound.
