Wenig überraschend ein wahnsinnig tolles Set.

Das Set kam gestaffelt an drei Tagen an und ich habe es sofort (zusammen mit der BG Signature Snare) aufgebaut und lange verschiedene Stimmungen der Toms probiert. Die Werksfelle der Toms sind Remo Coated Ambassador und auf der Bassdrum Remo Powerstroke 3. Ich habe das Fell auf der Bassdrum gelassen, spiele auf den Toms jedoch Remo White Suede.

Das Set ist praktisch Plug and Play - ohne viel rumzustimmen kam es direkt toll gestimmt an und macht direkt Spaß. Auch bei meiner mittelmäßigen Raumakustik kann das Set mit seinen warmen Tönen glänzen. Ich habe das Floortom mit einem Wattebällchen ausgestattet und es recht tief gelassen, beim höheren Stimmen gibt es eher unschöne Obertöne, die man aber bestimmt durch das richtige Dämpfen und das korrekte Stimmen des Resofells wegkriegt. Ich spiele vor allem Bop Jazz, da hat das Set aufgrund der Tomgrößen Schwächen, überzeugt aber bei meinen Big Band Proben voll und ganz. Ich muss hier aber wahrscheinlich nicht lange über den Klang reden - es gibt genug Videos von Benny Greb, in denen man das Set bewundern kann.

Als Anregung: Ich werde in naher Zukunft definitv noch ein 12" und 14" Tom erwerben, um noch flexibler zu sein. Da mir doch ein wenig die Tomhalterung an der Bassdrum fehlt, habe ich noch ein Ludwig Atlas Arch Mount mit einer Gibraltar SC-HBL 5" L-Rod bestellt, um in wahrer Vintage Manier ein Tom an die Bassdrum zu montieren.

Alles in allem: wer überlegt sich das Set zu kaufen, wird sich ja ohnehin schon Gedanken dazu gemacht haben und diese Rezension spielt keine Rolle. Mein Eindruck nach ca. einem halben Jahr ist, dass ich dieses Set aufgrund des Klangs (und natürlich auch der Optik) die nächsten 40 Jahre spielen werde.
