A very interesting pickup !
DEF-guitarist 20.05.2025
Moderate plus plus gain, or High minus minus if you prefer.
Good for saturated rhythm and leads.
Rhythms can be powerful while staying aggressive and alive like a moderate pickup.
Leads are thick so pulloff/hammers are easy, while not being too much compressed so here too it stays aggressive and alive.
Maybe the low end gives that open, natural sound.
The splitted coil (north Custom coil) isn't clear/bright/sharp enough for my ears but it's a rare quality in a bridge humbucker (e.g. I enjoy that split in Jazz bridge or Demon). For that "funk" sound I generally use splitted neck in parallel. Doing that, this pickup delivers perfectly.
Splitted + distortion is quite ok, maybe a small bit too much power for me, anyway I'm not fond of the Custom 5.
So I'd say powerful, still natural and aggressive.

i
my bridge pickup!!!

I was not sure that I would have liked, but as soon as I tried it I realized that Duncan had made the center, or rather a client ... but thanks to production, there is now the possibility to have a bridge pickup with special sound characteristics, hybrid, yes, but powerful and sweet at the same time, everything is very well balanced.
Very nice custom coil, does not regret a real singlecoil, raccomanded

Agressive, yet sensitive

Great additional value for my Les Paul. So much more readable and sweet sound comparing to stock Burstbucker Pro pickup. Can be a bit hot for non-rock players, however I can find great sounding spot with both pickups.
