A modern classic

When it debuted in 1991, the Rode NT1 quickly became a game-changer, bringing the warmth and flexibility of a large-diaphragm condenser microphone to musicians and engineers at an accessible price. Decades on, it remains a studio staple and one of the most popular entry-level condensers ever made. Now in its fifth generation, the NT1 Signature carries that legacy forward. Equipped with Rode's renowned HF6 1-inch true condenser capsule, it delivers the same iconic studio sound that made the original a classic, while its updated circuitry achieves an ultra-low self-noise of just 4dBA and a remarkable maximum sound pressure level of 142dB.

Rode NT1 Signature Black

Everything needed to get started

The NT1 Signature is a side-address microphone with a cardioid pickup pattern, designed to capture sound from the front while reducing noise from behind. A gold dot on the rugged aluminum body – like on earlier models – marks the front of the mic, making it easy to position toward the sound source. To ensure clean, professional recordings, the mic comes with a sturdy metal shock mount and a detachable pop filter that reduce vibrations and plosive sounds. A dust cover and a high-quality 6m XLR cable are also provided, so the NT1 can be connected to an audio interface or mixer straight out of the box.

Rode NT1 Signature Black, Detail

Versatile and adaptable, it's an ideal all-round microphone for musicians, podcasters, streamers, and content creators. Handcrafted with precision at Rode's facility in Sydney, Australia, the NT1 Signature Black comes with a peerless 10-year manufacturer's warranty, ensuring lasting quality and performance.

An extensive range of studio and live microphones has also been added, regularly updated, and expanded over the years. These new additions include a variety of professional microphones which are designed for video and mobile applications and can be connected directly to SLR cameras or smartphones.

x
Literally the NT1 but cheaper
xShell 01.02.2024
Great microphone - amazing detail, extremely quiet, my voice sounds very natural with it and the included kit is also nice. Sound quality-wise it's exactly the same as the 5th gen NT1 but 50 EUR cheaper and without USB capabilities.

The microphone is really good. It sounds very great and its nice with the included pop screen. The black design looks very nice. The included cable is long enough so you can just use it for all you need. Overall I really like the microphone with its included pop filter.

B
Noticeable difference from my previous setup.
Bogart0 23.07.2024
I'm coming from a cheap Behringer C-1 and UM2 setup that was also possibly broken, it was a hassle to use, constant glitching from the headphone output, recordings sounded horrible. Bought this microphone with an Audient ID4 MKII, no more problems and noticeable difference in quality of my recordings, this is my second microphone, i haven't heard any higher-end microphones so i can't really compare it to other microphones. The microphone is practically noise-less, my previous set up was a noise-generator.

I love it
The best music engineer that has ever lived (false) 08.11.2025
It sounds good — neutral and clear. It looks good, is very light, the shock mount is solid, and the cable is very long. The pop filter is decent — not exceptional, but it does the job correctly, though it’s far from perfect if you don’t know how to control plosive “P” sounds and a lot of air hitting the mic. For the price, however, it’s a jackpot. It matches perfectly with every type of vocal and can be easily shaped with EQ. It handles processing very well, is not sibilant or harsh, and while it sounds a bit sterile, to my ears it makes the sound very clean — I like it.
