Emperor of sound
Emperor heads are always great and versatile. I bought this to be able to get a jazz/R&B sound from a big 22" kick, and it did the job. Using a felt beater on it, it's perfect. You can also get a great funk/rock sound by putting a cloth between the pedal and the head, and/or using different batters.

Punch!
I was always using clear heads on my bass drum, i have used powerstroke 4, 3 and so on.. but i was on budget and i needed bass drum head fast, so i bought this. If it was good for John Bonham, it must be good for me too. When i put it on i was amazed by punch it delivered. And it was warmer then clear ones, and even more dynamic. Haven't tried it in studio yet, but if it will sound good there, i will stick to this one. Truly recommend.

very impressed
Was a little cash strapped and in need of kick head asap so had to go for this as opposed to the powerstroke and i must say there is quiet the thump out of it. Like all emporer heads its very durable and would recommend this for someone who is a little stuck for cash or even as a back up or spare head for when you are in a pinch

Good 70s sound
I bought these for my studio, fitted them on a simple Tama Rythm Mate Standard kit. They have this nice seventies sound with deep long tones that I have been after. Its a very long lasting product of quite a high standard in my opinion. It is not the most expensive, but when it comes to drums skins I think the quality difference between the cheaper products and these medium ones is quite big. For me, these are just at the right level, they sound great when recording and at the same time you do not have to be too careful as they do not cost a fortune either.

Solid Skins
Couldn't get hold of a set of emperors at short notice and had to go for a competitor's equivalent which most suppliers always tell me are identical. Didn't come close. Emperors are number 1 for tonal depth and punchy attack and are a dream to tune.
