Great, easy to play German mouthpiece.

This is a superb example of a modern German/Austrian mouthpiece.

The tip and rails are quite broad but very well defined.

It has extremely low levels of "hiss" and background noise and is very responsive.

The "Ludwig" model is a typical German lay or opening, i.e. not very long Austrian lay. I like to use Vandoren Black Master #3, most reeds in a box work quite well with the Ludwig.

For me it plays quite high and so needs a 1mm longer barrel or tuning ring to play in tune on my reform Boehm clarinets.

The acrylic material is a surprise for many non-German players but produces a beautiful rich tone. After using a Maxton for about a year, I can see no visible wear.
