Marcus Miller P8-4 TS Very Very Good Guitar Bass
Piter P 29.05.2023
The Marcus Miller P8-4 TS is an exceptional bass instrument that is sure to capture the attention of both professionals and enthusiasts alike. It is a bass with outstanding sound capabilities, solid construction, and an aesthetic design that will meet the expectations of even the most discerning musicians.

First and foremost, the impeccable craftsmanship of this bass stands out. The P8-4 TS features a beautifully contoured alder wood body, which ensures excellent resonance and balanced sound. The natural finish with subtle distressing adds a rustic charm to its appearance.

However, what sets the P8-4 TS apart from other basses is its sound. Thanks to the two Marcus Miller Super Precision Bass humbuckers, this bass offers a wide tonal range and exceptional depth of sound. Whether you play jazz, funk, rock, or pop, the P8-4 TS delivers excellent results. Based on the traditional Precision Bass layout, this bass provides both classic, thick tones and cutting-edge, piercing tones. The ability to adjust the balance between the pickups allows for customization of the sound to suit personal preferences.

Not only is the construction of the P8-4 TS solid, but it is also comfortable to play. The 34-inch scale length and contoured neck with a rosewood fretboard ensure smooth and precise playing. The 20-fret fretboard allows for effortless navigation across the neck, both in the lower and upper registers.

An additional advantage of this bass is its active/preamp system, which allows for precise tone control. Bass, midrange, and treble adjustments enable excellent sound customization for any musical situation. The ability to connect directly to a mixer or amplifier provides ease of use and professional results.

In summary, the Marcus Miller P8-4 TS is a fantastic bass instrument that offers excellent sound, solid construction, and an elegant appearance. Regardless of musical style, this bass will meet the expectations of any bassist. If you are in search of a high-quality instrument that will inspire you to creatively explore sound, the Marcus Miller P8-4 TS is a worthy choice.

Amazing "hybrid" precision bass
Islandfield PhD 12.07.2024
I was looking for a very good around bass for my studio.
Asked friends and was suggested a precision model. Further research made me also lean towards Jazz bass (due to more "percussive" sound and versatility also and thinner neck (I play mainly guitar) ) and found the upper price range of this Sire series to offer the best of both worlds.

After great helpful dialogue with Thomann and email directly with Sire support I landed in this one.

And boy it did bit fail me at all.
Set up and feel close to perfect and so far I have only tuned it..

Very pleased with the purchase and model even though it was a little more costly than looking for. The model slightly less expensive do not include the very nice bag that came with this one. So I think the 8 version provides better value

Main axe for almost 3 years now
Gavalakis 13.11.2025
I've returned to playing bass and doing gigs again about 3 years ago and was looking to buy one bass to keep with me for the foreseeable future since my old bass was prety banged up and no that great TBH. After countless hours of research, I ended up on this one. And I am so glad I did!

The looks and finish of this bass is fantastic and accompanies well my style. Playability is top with a very smooth neck. Stays in tune, and last but of course not least, it sounds really good. There is no humming noise at all on the single coil and the onboard preamp gives some nice tonal flexibility, even though I ended up not using it that much as I've hoped for (just a personal preferance though, nothing to do with the preamp). Cherry on top, the gigbag it comes with is absolutely great and protects the bass very well.

For alsmost 3 years now I've been using it as my main bass for dozens of gigs as well as recording songs at home.

BUT, I've subtracted 1 star on quality because at one gig within the first year I had it, it just stopped making any sound other than a noise... That was heartbreaking at the moment and needless to say the gig was ruined.

Being a tinkerer that I am, I sat down to fix it and found that it was a grounding issue. The pots were not making good contact with the very thin conductive material that is placed on the inside of the pots panel. In the end I did fix it by grounding the pots in a more secure way and since then I've had no problems whatsoever, but not anyone would be able to or feel like doing so on their new instrument. So there is that and I hope Sire has addressed this in recent productions!

Also do note that the images shown here, do actually reflect the looks of bass. More specifically, the neck is much lighter in color than the headstock ,whereas in many online videos or other website images of this bass, the neck and headstock have the same dark color. This is not a critique, just an observation.

In the end it is a keeper and I am very happy with it.
