Als Einsteiger ins Feld der Saxophone hatte ich zum Start nur die Blättchen Plasticover by Rico in 1,5 und dieses Fibrerred Onyx in S und MS zum Vergleich ausprobieren können. Auf einem 60 Jahre alten B&S Sopran-Saxophon inklusive ungebrandetem Mundstück mit knapp 2mm Bahnöffnung, konnte ich nach kurzer Eingewöhnungsphase auf dem Onyx S auch die tiefsten Töne direkt und wiederholbar ansprechen, was mir beim Onyx in MS und dem von Rico nicht immer gelungen ist. Der Unterschied im Blaswiderstand ist auch merklich. Das Onyx S fühlt sich insgesamt leichter an und fast unerschwerlich an, klingt aber auch etwas heller und "dünner" als das MS und das Plasticover 1,5. Dennoch finde ich es gerade für den müheloseren Einstieg super. Würde es auf jeden Fall wieder kaufen, wenn es mal kaputt gegangen ist.

Ricevuta in regalo da Thomann assieme al Sax Soprano Curvo Startone SCS-75, mi ha lasciato allibito: in 40 anni non avevo mai provato un'ancia del genere. Persino il bocchino super economico fornito a corredo del suddetto sax (quasi inutilizzabile con la maggior parte delle ance tradizionali provate) è diventato perfettamente suonabile in tutto il range, dalla nota più bassa alla più alta, con un filo di fiato ! L’unica osservazione è sulle note più acute, che tendono a risultare calanti e vanno corrette dal suonatore: a mio avviso la versione MS risulta ancora migliore, perché risolve questo limite, pur mantenendo una perfetta suonabilità e facilità di emissione nelle note più basse.
