A great short scale all rounder
Nikeboy 02.09.2024
As a guitar player I was looking for a Bass to lay down tracks for recording and supplement my friends at open mic nights.
I have picked up a bass from time to time but had to put real effort in to keep the strings down.
I knew I wanted a hollow body as I wanted a tone that could sit alongside acoustic guitar performances and originally I had decided on the Epiphone Jack Casady (I really liked the Pelham Blue).
I had hands on the JC in a store and thought it played well.
On waiting to buy however, the price rose twice and I started to have 2nd thoughts. At this point the Guild Starfire I Bass came up in searches and I started to look into the comparison between the two guitars.
Long story short, after finding a post on you tube that compared them side by side in detail, the cheaper price of the Guild and the Guild being a short scale (much more suited to my fingers), I decided on the Guild.

I can say now that I loved it straight out of the box but after stringing some flat woulds on it plays like a dream. It may not pass muster for seasoned Bass players but it has a well rounded tone, can handle a bit of overdrive and is easy to play.
In all much fun and I’m very pleased with the decision to go for this over the Epiphone.

Belle bonne surprise
Panachon 07.03.2024
