Gretsch quality for a great price

The Gretsch Drums 10"x5" Full Range Birch snare drum is part of a series of five snares ranging from 10" to 14", covering both compact and full-sized birch-shell models. The Full Range label has long stood for pricing that has allowed drummers to get their hands on genuine Gretsch quality without major compromises on tone or build quality. The 10" Full Range delivers a quick response, a focused voice, and warm sustain, making it equally suited to tight, punchy patterns and more detailed playing.

The classic Gretsch 30°

The Gretsch Drums 10"x5" Full Range Birch snare drum is built on an eight-ply birch shell with the signature Gretsch 30° bearing edge. All of the metal fittings sit on synthetic isolators to keep the shell's resonance free and open, while six double-ended lugs with brass inserts, paired with 2.5mm triple-flanged steel hoops, ensure stable tuning. The 20-strand snare wire runs on the newly designed Full Range throw-off, which offers smooth, precise adjustment. Factory-fitted Remo heads provide a solid starting point for a range of tunings. There's also an integrated L-arm mount for attaching the drum to a suitable stand.

The perfect snare for starting out

With the Full Range Birch snare, the US drummaker has created an instrument designed to meet the needs of beginners. It combines a fast, responsive feel with a clear fundamental that works just as well in the rehearsal room as it does for a band's first gigs on stage. Sound-wise, its dry, clean character is perhaps best suited to the broad range of urban and electronically influenced genres. But with its attractive price-to-performance ratio, the Gretsch Drums 10"x5" Full Range Birch is an excellent choice for drummers looking for an instrument that'll deliver lasting enjoyment, remaining a useful part of their drumkit even as they move to more advanced levels.

About Gretsch Drums

The Gretsch company was founded in 1883 by Friedrich Gretsch, a German-born immigrant, in Brooklyn/USA and has been owned by Drum Workshop since 2015. In the first decades of its existence, the company specialised in the production of tambourines, drums, and banjos, but from around 1930 it started building guitars. By this time, Gretsch had established itself as a serious manufacturer of drum sets, and in the decades that followed, Gretsch drums were extremely popular, especially among Jazz drummers. Today, Gretsch offers a range of drum sets in all price ranges, starting with the affordable Catalina series and extending to the exclusive American Custom drums - and every series includes traditional features, a characteristic trait of Gretsch Drums.

Ideal for effects and accents

Behind this 5"-deep birch shell is a snare drum that is especially well suited to life as a side snare: Tuned high, the Gretsch Drums 10"x5" Full Range Birch SD delivers fast attack and crisp presence – perfect for short accents and effects. At a medium-high tuning, it offers a more forceful voice: Supported by the 20-strand wire and the precisely adjustable Full Range throw-off, it has the cutting snap to handle even Drum'n'Bass, Hip-Hop, and Trap beats, perhaps in a hybrid electronic/acoustic studio setup. Equally, though, the Gretsch Full Range Birch snares are also flexible and affordable enough to give beginners a great feel for tone, timbre, and colours.
