Découvrons la Gibson Hummingbirs standard ec en finition cherry sunburst. La table est en épicéa et le fond et les éclisses en acajou, le tout en bois massif de qualité.
C'est une guitare magnifique en terme de finition et de look, à condition d'apprécier le côté un peu chargé de la plaque avec fleurs et oiseau et les gros repères de touche. Le vernis est posé de manière délicate et régulière, je n'ai constaté aucun défaut ou surépaisseur.
Le son est chaud et équilibré, plus riche que la dreadnought Guild avec laquelle je l'ai comparé et plus rond qu'une guitare en palissandre.
Elle est bien adapté au chant, son usage premier pour moi, car elle est dans des fréquences qui ne parasite pas la voix. Branchée dans un ampli Fishman le système embarqué est très transparent et on fait le son que l'on veut sur l'ampli. Les commandes dans la rosace sont basiques mais font le job pour moduler un peu le volume ou la tonalité.
Le manche est confortable et dans des standards modernes plutôt fin et confortable (ma fille de 13 ans n'a aucun problème à la jouer malgré ses mains assez petites). Concernant le manche, le diapason court rend le jeu très confortable mais demande une petite adaptation quand on a comme moi joué que sur des diapasons longs. Bien que ce soit une dreadnought mon impression une fois sur les genoux est qu'elle est plus petite que ma Guild alors que les dimension de caisse son quasi les même, c'est peut-être du au manche plus court ou à la courbure de l'éclisse; dans tout les cas la posture est confortable.
Seul reproche: il n'y a pas de point d'attache de sangle c^tè manche et le petit bouton à visser fourni avec la guitare est bien minable et suppose que l'on se motive pour faire soi-même un trou dans la guitare...
Bien sur il y a le prix, mais franchement, le plaisir à jouer cette Gibson me le fait accepter sans aucun regret.
