I have a 1979 Flying V2 and had noticed that its original case had started to affect the nitro finish on the back of the neck, headstock and both 'wings'.
I got this Gibson case recently to store the guitar in as it is supposed to be nitro-safe.
It's expensive compared to other brands but it does seem well made and should protect from knocks and drops although it's too early yet to say for sure if it truly is nitro safe over a long period.
