Ich setze den Gibson Custombucker Plus in meiner Les Paul Standard 50s ein, die ich ansonsten fast komplett aufgerüstet habe, um dem historischen Original/Custom-Shop-Modell – so nahe wie möglich zu kommen. Sattel, Elektrik, Bridge, Tailpiece, Tuner, Potis – alles ist entsprechend historisch korrekt.

Es gibt viele gute PAF-Style Pickups auf dem Markt, aber dieser hier hat für mich einen besonders schönen Charakter. Er klingt sehr vintage-orientiert und angenehm mittenbetont. Statt gnadenlos ehrlich zu sein, färbt er den Ton bewusst ein wenig zugunsten eines runden, musikalischen Vintage-PAF-Sounds.
Dadurch wirkt der Klang insgesamt wärmer und schmeichelnder. Die Höhen sind klar vorhanden, bleiben aber weich und niemals schrill. Auch in den hohen Lagen kann man problemlos kräftig zulangen, ohne Angst vor „Ice-Pick“-Sounds zu haben. Insgesamt passt er perfekt zu dem klassischen Vintage-Les-Paul-Ton, den man im Kopf hat, und macht einfach Spaß zu spielen.
