A luxury double bass

The GEWA Premium Line Solid Bass 3/4's main qualities speak for themselves: Part of the Premium series, it delivers a powerful, balanced sound thanks to its solid wood body. The German company GEWA, which has a long tradition of designing and manufacturing stringed instruments, has applied all its savoir-faire to this model. The 3/4 format, with a scale length of 105cm, mirrors standard basses and suits adults and tall teens. The GEWA Premium Solid Line Bass's classic violin-shaped silhouette and elegant slightly aged deep brown finish are bound to turn heads, and this fine instrument's aesthetics are further enhanced by its individual brass machine heads and ebony tailpiece.

100% premium design

All the parts of this double bass that influence its sound are crafted from solid wood: The spruce top is central, as is the curved maple back which reinforces the sound projection, while the ribs are also made from maple and ensure maximum stability. Inside, the meticulously crafted bracing provides optimum resonance for the instrument's body, and the luxury ensemble is completed by the ebony fingerboard and tailpiece. Thanks to a telescopic endpin, the height can in turn be precisely adjusted to suit any bassist perfectly. Each and every detail of the instrument meets the demands of the Premium label, including assembly and adjustments carried out in the GEWA workshops.

About Gewa

GEWA Music is a German firm based in Saxony. It specialises in the development and manufacture of musical instruments and their accessories of almost all categories: Stringed instruments, guitars, wind instruments, drums, and percussion as well as digital keyboard instruments and their sound generation systems. The company manufactures partly for its own brand name and partly in close cooperation with other major industry brands such as DW Drums, Gibraltar, Gretsch, Hannabach, Ovation, Latin Percussion, Thomastik, Remo, Paiste, etc. The product line ranges from instruments for beginners to instruments for top-ranking musicians and other professional users. The multifaceted nature of the company is aptly summed up by GEWA Music’s motto: "We engineer music".

Tailor-made accessories

The GEWA Premium Solid Line Bass has accessories that meet a range of different needs. Choosing the right strings is key, as this determines the sound and ergonomic playability of the bass, allowing players to make the most of the instrument regardless of their playing style. Strings for bowing are radically different for those adapted to Rockabilly-style slap bass. GEWA also has a wide range of bows in every price bracket, and for transporting the bass, there's a padded gig bag (an optional extra) which provides guaranteed protection. Finally, a specific stand for the bass is available, to allow musicians to put the instrument down safely on stage or at home during breaks from playing.

Great double bass
L.S 15.01.2018
I bought this bass in order to get a deeper foundation within my music which is towards the classical direction. I'm a self-learned cellist and that is the only reference I have towards this instrument. I have also only owned it for about a month now, and these classical instruments made out of wood just get better with time. However, what I can say so far is that it arrived safely with the soundpost on place. The adjustment was easy then it was just to start playing. The strings that came with the instrument is rather bad though - hard to play and not suitable for arco at all. But I just recently changed these to Belcanto strings by Thomastik and wow, the result is currently just amazing and I could play this instrument for hours and hours. The instrument is beautifully varnished - the only thing I can complain about is a few hairs that got stuck from the oil-pencils - but well, then I'm really harsh in my critique.

I spent a good time before deciding, and the choice finally fell on this one - and I'm really happy it did.
