Simple DIY Kit - Great for small to medium eurorack cases.

This was my first real introduction to a fully modular setup. I chose this over the Tip Top Zeus or Happy Ending Kit because I know I wanted to expand later on. This can handle the modules I've planned for the build and I recommend to build a setup on Modulargrid to make sure you have enough amps with this power supply.

All-In-All an easy build, good quality Personally, for the price I'd like a couple more mAmp's or a feature to not make it pull so much current at power-on. A capacitor might help. This is more of a problem when all module spaces are filled if you have high-current modules, but it might still cause some clicking or popping noises when you turn it on.

I didn't care much for the manual when I came to building a case for it. Mostly because it didn't explain much. Lucky, it turned out to be as simple as using the rails to measure length and inserting a module to get the right height. Having a shop cut the wood was by far the cheapest way of doing it.

Important thing is there's no +5v output. if that's important to u to feed some lights - go for another DIY kit that I'm sure they have too. There are some parts u'll need that not included in package like distant bolts, which is annoying. Also building ur own case is not a cheaper way. I'm used to woodworking, but spent tons of time on precise measurements for ex. rails to fit perfectly to house modules with no gaps. time+money spent= not worth it -> go buy prebuilt case. If ur freak like me and want to have custom limited edition case -> it works as described.

Save a lot of money making your own case.

Ready made Eurorack cases seem very expensive, so I made my own based on this kit. If you have tools and diy skills its not too difficult. I used some pine and plywood stained to look nice. Materials cost about ¤40

JR
Purchasing a Doepfer A-100 DIY Kit
Jonathan R. 62 25.10.2013
I recently bought a Doepfer DIY kit as I wanted to install a Eurorack system into my own custom wooden cabinet. The kit is complete but the instructions/suggestions for building your own wooden box are a little brief. I fitted the rails into an aluminum frame to allow the Eurorack to be installed in any standard 19" housing in the fuure.

It's all very straight forward with a little knowledge though. Remember to include more M3 nuts than the number of modules to allow for expansion.

Very pleased with the result.
