The Dmoll, Diezels under dog
WayneB 29.05.2026
I've owned the Herbert mark 3 and currently own a VH4 and Dmoll both purchased from Thomann. The Dmoll comes packed with amazing features and in my opinion packs as much punch as the Herbert. The best part is the Dmoll can actually be transported to gigs. The power section I think is also a winner being a bit smaller allowing for a bit more compression at stage volume. A great German amp for a great price

Best ever

For all the details (except clean channel tone), they are perfect! I hope the clean tone can be sweeter and fendery.

Really disappointed

First off, I want to point out that I also own a 6L6 VH2, which is one of my favorite amps—and I have 20 of them.

What can I say? The amp broke down after just 4 days, or about a dozen hours of playing.

Pros:
1- Sound-wise, no complaints—it’s a Diezel, built for metal. The mid-cut is a real game-changer, and the gain level is massive while still remaining quite articulate and not overly compressed (even on Channel 3)

2- The EL34 version is really tight—no complaints.
3- The clean tones are superb.

Now for the cons:
1- It broke down after 4 days; the amp wouldn’t turn on anymore.
2- The switch is a disgrace: not only is it not included—you have to pay an extra €188 for it—but it isn’t even recognized when the amp starts up. You have to unplug and replug it, or even turn the amp off, to get it to work. If you read the reviews on the FS7 HE, you’ll see that this is a recurring issue.
3- When switching between channels 2 and 3 with the footswitch, there’s a slight lag, which makes it a bit chaotic to use: I never knew if this was due to the FS7 or the amp itself

In conclusion: I’d wanted this amp for years, but in the end I’m really fed up. I finally sent everything back to Thomann, which, as usual, has top-notch customer service.

Was it a fuse issue? Tubes? Or something else? I don’t know, but given all this, I’m going to refrain from trying to get a D-Moll again which is a shame, because the sound quality is really excellent
