Amazing Tone

I've became so addicted to this preamp I can't play my electric bass without it any more, I was introduced to it during a studio recording and the minute I plug in I knew I have to had one. Although suspicious about the lack of tweaking possibilities, I've never ever missed any, it's pretty much a plug, select a tone and play device.
Also use it with my acoustic double bass but only to take advantage of the high impedance input that is very complementary to piezo pickups, also the pristine clean sound is a must.
I've lost track of the amount of times that sound engineers thank'd me for bringing it along.
Saying that, it is perfectly designed for studio purposes, hence the (for me) cons characteristics, but a lot of musicians take it to the road.

Sounds great BUT...

My unit came with a funny problem, it worked very well BUT It would produce white noise when you close the volume control of the bass or the guitar (weird i know), I could finally talk to someone in Avalon U.S.A which is in California (so you have to call late if you live in Europe -and they DONT have email support-) a technician finally confirmed my unit was defective. Thomann staff was GREAT as always, very helpful and efficient so no complains about this but BEWARE, Avalon support is kinda limited.

je l'utilise en live et en studio avec une Yamaha 5 et une MTD 5
fini les prise de tête utilisation simple avec efficacité garanti avec ou sans votre ampli bass pour des enregistrement et pour le live personnellement je peux plus m'en passée
Commende passée le jeudi reçu le lundi matin protection emballage impeccable

ich hatte bislang meinen Bass mit dem DI des Glock Soul II aufgenommen und war
relativ zufrieden.

Doch der Avalon U5 machts einfach besser.
