H
Excellent for weight and price range!

I was looking for a BP speaker with as little weight as possible. I opted for Alto and Boss Street Cube 2.

The Alto is a full fledged PA speaker with depth and resolution, added very basic app functionality (mostly volume levels for channels and fx) and BT connectivity. The Boss SC 2 sells itself as much more than that but falls short on the sound quality and overall higher price. With the optional BT dual adapter, the Boss is nearly a hundred euros more than the Alto which is almost a third of the value of the Alto.

Alto is only 5.5 kg which combined with the very small package and good sound quality was the main reason it stayed and the Boss did not.

The bad: "The Voice" - Omg, really?! When i turn on the speaker or connect to BT, depending on the previous set volume - the whole neighborhood and two streets adjacent to it has to be informed of it blasting trough the speaker?

To Alto engineers - Just put the put the option in the app so we can turn "the voice" off, or don't put those stupid vocal notifications at all.

Everything else is great for now, I'm very satisfied for now. Hope the battery lasts me a long time.

R
Alto Busker. This is as good as it gets.

I use a pair of Bose S1's for my smaller gigs, similar to the altos but not as much power, and a bit bigger. I bought the Atros to link to the Bose using a cable with the Bose on stands and the Altos on the floor pointed up for bigger gigs. That was the plan, but I now use the altos for gigs instead of the Bose. Nothing wrong with the Bose, but the Alto has more sound and effects. What I like- well almost everything. Small, not too heavy and runs a long time. For a case I bought a long playing record case that was made to hold 80 L.P.s and put some padding inside it. A cheap way of making a case.
What I don't like- well only one thing really, The volume control is designed to be used from an app on your phone. I don't use a smart phone so I have to hold a button down on the amp to adjust the volume. Not a deal breaker, but it would have been nice not to have to do this.
I liked the amp so much I bought a second one. (and made a second case like the first!)

JL
Great busking speaker
John Lallas 20.10.2025
I have tried some speakers. This is my first busking speaker. First of all I love it's lightweight size. I see other artists struggling with bigger equipment. this little thing fits in a 30 litre backcase of my motorbike. Surprisingly it is loud enough for the size. I play in quite open places with a mic and a guitar and I see people singing and dancing in 50 m within the 3/4 of its volume. The sound is really good with some effects that do the job. I think it is a good choice for this price range. Plus, I love handling volume from my smartphone.
