I got one of these from Thomann and was disappointed when I set it up, there was a lot of hum and I had to turn the bass right down. I happened to have another Lead and this made a huge difference. the sound quality is much better. Use more bass for strumming and less bass for picking.
Feels a bit flimsy for professional work and change that cheap Lead or get a good one with your order.

Power for the banjo
Andreas K., 16.10.2009
After I had tried unsuccessfully unsuccessfully to reinforce my banjo by pick-up (glued piezo under the bridge, up and down on the coat, etc.), I once again found it at Shadow. Actually, a simple as well as logical idea to integrate the pickup into the bridge and to pass it through the passive control unit of the amplification. The sound is very original, as I already noticed with other Shadow PUs for acoustic instruments. Since the control unit offers only a "small" jack output due to its small size, a suitable cable is included in the scope of delivery. Who like me with normal cable or transmitter works, can put a commercially available adapter (Miniklinke male - Klinke female) in between. I would have liked more of Shadow rather than the connecting cable, but this is taste. Conclusion: Shadow is once again my first choice for acoustic pickups.
