My choice for the 12-String-Guitar

I am using the Thomastik AC211 Plectrum strings with my Art & Lutherie 12 Cedar Antique Burst. I am not sure what kind of strings came with it originally, but those did not satisfy me. Therefore I tried the Elixir Nanoweb Medium 12 Str. Acoustic and the Thomastik AC211 Plectrum. The Elixir Nanoweb strings are not bad. They do last very long since they are coated strings. But the Thomastic AC211 Plectrum really do reach the next level. They are very brilliant but still warm. The sound is very balanced. Even if they do not last as long as the Elixir Nanoweb strings they are my choice. Using GHS Fast Fret they last long enough to become a better sounding alternative to coated strings.

Normalerweise habe ich auf allen Gitarren 010 oder 011 -er Elixir, wollte als Vergleich einmal geschliffene Saiten probieren. Der erste Eindruck war ausgesprochen gut. Die Saiten sind klasse verarbeitet und halten die Stimmung recht stabil. Die geschliffenen Wicklungen geben ein besonderes Spielgefühl, an das ich mich nach 1-2 Stunden sehr schnell gewöhnt hatte. Jedoch verlieren sie, im direkten Vergleich zu Elixir Saiten, recht schnell die Brillanz und klingen danach recht mittenbetont. Nach der Reinigung mit 'GHS Fast Fret' waren meine Finger immer schwarz und der Klang wurde nicht besser.
Für mich sind aktuell die Elixir DIE Referenz, Thomastik sind gut, lassen sich sehr angenehm spielen, kommen aber auf Dauer für mich nicht in Frage, weil ich gerne einen dauerhaften, klaren und reinen Klang bevorzuge.
