Marcus Miller M2 5 TBK 2nd Gen

Basso ollut minulla käytössä nyt kolme kuukautta ja olen ollut pääsääntöisesti tyytyväinen. Aktiivinen etuaste takaa laajat säädöt suoraan bassosta, mutta kuluttaa nopeasti patterit tyhjiksi, jos unohtaa kaapelin/etuasteen päälle.

Basso on todella näyttävä ja pinnat on viimeistelty hyvin. Nauhojen päät olivat nätisti pyöristetty ja hiottu. Jouduin kuitenkin pari nauhaa hiomaan, sillä ne olivat hieman korkeammalla kuin muut ja aiheuttivat kielten särinää näiltä kohdilta.

Kaiken kaikkiaan olen tyytyväinen bassoon.

Basson kaula kuivasi vuoden verran niin, että nauhan päät törrötti hieman. Ammattilaiselle vei, joka hioi nauhan päät ja jatkoi kaulaa lisäämällä puupalan kaulan ja rungon väliin, noin 2mm saatiin intonaatiot kuntoon ADADg vireelle 140-45 kielisetillä. Ääni hyvää, vähän ongelmia oli aluksi sähköjen kanssa, jotka korjasi itse itsensä maagisesti ekana päivänä eikä ongelmia sen jälkeen ole ollut. Ensimmäisessä bassossa jonka sain, meni yksi viritin rikki myös uutena, mutta takuu korjasi asian, eikä bassossa ole ollut muuta ihmeellistä. Laatu voisi siis olla parempaa mutta helposti saa hyvän soittimen sopu hintaan.

The bass arrived in great condition, only having some string heigth problems, but that is understandable being that it crossed almost the entire planet. Just a little wrench action and I was done, the only downside of this bass, not sure if anyone else has this issue, is that the preamp, and volume knobs (the ones that are stacked) they are very difficult to move independently without moving the other, but far from that, great bass, very heavy preamp and the construction is solid as a tree

Use: I usually play MM 4 string M series basses, so it seemed a sensible idea to add the 5 string to my gigging basses for the occasions when I need the low B string. So it gets used a few times during a gig.
Pros: I have seen comments about the quality; I have no issues with that. It seems well made and of course it has the rounded fret ends which are a signature feature of these guitars and adds considerably to their playability. Like all M series the range of tones is huge. This bass, however, has a much stronger low end and is less bright than the 4 strings so the settings are different. I would have liked a maple neck and fret board option - LATER I see that this is now available for this model. The sustain is epic. It looks and sounds a lot more expensive than it is.
Cons: the tuners are not the best, but it does hold tuning well. For me there are a couple of issues that may not bother other players. The first is the weight, it's very heavy and so I am grateful I do not have to play a whole gig with it. I doubt I'd be able to move at then of several hours of having it hanging off of my shoulder. Then there is the lack of a comfortable anchor point for plucking with fingers, I'm finally going to add a thumb rest to see it that improves the handling for me.
Conclusion: well made instrument and very comfortable fret edges. Good value for money.
