Wanted to get a bass bag with as little weight as possible without sacrifycing too much protection for the instrument. I also wanted to get enough storage space to not need to carry a separate bag for cables, tuner, iPad and papers.
This product seems to be the best fit for my needs. It is hard and protective enough to keep my bass safe. It is relatively light weight, but I’d like it to have harness for carrying like a backbag. Unlike most of the hard cases that I have seen, this has enough space in the outside pocket for A4/letter size papers and/or an iPad Pro 12.9. Also inside is space for couple pedals and cables etc. Interior is large enough for a Sire m7 5-string. To add support for the bass body, I added a closed cell plastic stuffing where I cut a body shaped hole. The zipper feels strong enough to last for some time with my use (weekly rehearsals and a couple gigs a year), although the corners are a bit tight when opening and closing the zipper.
The lid/cover stays open by itself but as the case is quite light, the opened case tends to fall back if the bass is not in and there is enough weight in the outside pocket.
