I installed this into an old defretted Ibanez bass from early 90s with original passive pickups. I would wager the sound greatly depends on your pickups, but atleast on mine the results were somewhat lackluster.
Negatives:
-Treble didn't seem to do much. The change from full boost to full cut was very subtle. Boost mainly just increased string noise and shape not actual tone. Some review mentioned that the treble isn't actually active, but only passive cut. Some other reviews mentioned that treble and mid work together, so likely treble is only a high cut when boosting the mids.
-Blend pot didn't seem very good. Halfway point didn't sound like both pickups at full and there was a noticiable volume drop. If rest of the set had been great, I would have replaced this with a 3-way switch.
-Not fully sure, but I think the output was lower than with original hardware.
Positives:
+Cheap, so isn't that big dent in the wallet even if it doesn't quiet work out.
+Fairly Easy to install, only soldering the pickup wires was bit difficult. Only problem is if you need to drill holes and modify control cavity to fit all controls, so might want to take some measurements and plan ahead before purchase.
+Mid and Bass controls were good, especially bass fully boosted gave nice fullness to the sound.
+Controls seem decent quality.
In the end, I decided I liked the original tone control and separate volumes better and using EQ pedal would get better results with more flexibility, so rather than drilling holes into my bass, I decided to just rewire original hardware back in.
