Der Cuckoo Call ist ein akustisch überzeugendes Effektinstrument.

Es liegt in der Natur dieser Konstruktion, dass nur eben dieses Intervall g-e zur Verfügung steht. Die einzelnen Töne können aber bedingt(!) moduliert werden. Da das Tonerzeugungsprinzip dem der Blockflöte ähnelt, kann man durch unterschiedliche Anblasgeschwindigkeiten die Tonhöhe verändern. D.h.: man kann die Intonation verändern (das sind wenige Cent, vielleicht ein Viertelton, keinesfalls ein halber Ton!!!) . Dies geht nach oben leichter und deutlicher, hat aber einen schrilleren Sound zur Folge. Das Überblasen stellt sich relativ spät ein. Bei Rücknahme der Anblasgeschwindigkeit bricht der Ton schnell weg. Um nach unten zu intonieren, bedarf es etwas mehr Feingefühl.

Andersherum betrachtet: wenn der Cuckoo mit harmonisch/melodischen Bezug eingesetzt werden soll, muss man sich kurz mit dem Instrument auseinandersetzen, um die richtige Anblasgeschwindigkeit herauszufinden.

Das Material ist robust und die Verarbeitung sehr gut.
Der Cuckoo kann klaglos im großen Percussion/Effekte-Bag mitreisen.
