I use this recorder to record my jazz-quintet, my trumpet practise, my guitar compositions, all for later evaluation.
The software is relatively intuitive, and the recording quality is great, both using the XY-microphones, and the external inputs (tried it with condensor microphone and guitar piezo-pickup). Tried it for over-dubbing too. This works well too.
It is worth reading the manual to know all the tricks this can do.
It also includes a metronome and a tuner. Both work well.
The plastic box provided could be better quality. I wonder how long it will last.
It may be worth investing in a larger SD-card than the one provided with the recorder (2GB) if you don't connect to a computer frequently to download your recordings.
I am especially amazed by how well it handles both weak and very strong sounds. For those recording for podcasts or documentaries this must be great.
The ability to exchange the microphone-head easily, and the dial-buttons for adjusting input level easily made me choose this model over the legendary previous model.
It would be nice if all file-types on the SD-card could be played without having to change the recording type first (wav or mp3)
