Tube Combos under €400 – Video Comparison

Tube combos at a lower budget. What are low watt tube combos capable of? The answer lies in these videos.

The fact that you can get great sounds from a tube amp with very low power, should be no secret. Small amplifiers have the advantage that you can fully crank it up at home, as opposed to a 100-Watt half-stack and yet enjoy the desired end-stage sounds. In our three part video, we compare low-budget models under 400 euros according to the following criteria:

  • Sound at low volume
  • Volume for the best possible sound
  • Sound with a single coil or a humbucker
  • Sound with a built-in speaker or an external 2 x 12 cab

At the end of the video we condensed the different sound samples for easier comparisons. Enjoy!

The buguera were the definitely best one. It had the best and most balanced sound picture, the rest of them had way to much mid tone.vits weird that you would use the Laney as a pedal platform as it'd the one with the flattest sound and most mid tone, and least bass. BTW, you lack a pedal in your pedal board, for a really angry sound you need the MT2 from boss, that will give you every sound from a brutal blues sound, to stoner spend and to nekro sound.
