You can’t talk about live music without considering stage lighting, which adds atmosphere and turns any ordinary show into a spectacle, a feast for all the senses. #ThomannLightingDays are here to shed some light on the techniques and equipment used. We want to take a closer look at this broad theme and make musicians aware of the possibilities of lighting and how it can help their band – this hashtag is indispensable: #LightYourStage.

We’ll start with the basics, namely the DMX (Digital Multiplex). This is a communication protocol between a console and certain lighting elements which can be controlled by the shifting of faders, knobs and dials. DMX is the industry standard in lighting control so if you want to get into this field you need to start here:
