The redesign focused on achieving perfect intonation and improving the instrument's playability. The instrument is also visually stunning: Both the body and keys feature a gold lacquer finish. The mother-of-pearl inlays on the keys create eye-catching accents. This masterclass instrument was developed with the help of some of the world's most talented saxophonists, including Nobuya Sugawa, Jean-Yves Fourmeau, and Otis Murphy.

Refined with a love for detail

The manufacturer has meticulously implemented the suggestions of renowned saxophonists and also incorporated the findings of years of studies. The front F key is adjustable and can be adapted to the length of each player's fingers. The high G key of this revised version retains the same features as the original EX, meaning that the high G can be played comfortably and with great stability – a semitone higher than on conventional soprano saxophones. Yamaha has also optimised the positioning and size of the tone holes, as well as revising the entire key system. The changes to shape and mechanism of the F key and palm keys, for example, provide a smooth playing experience, and the intonation is better than ever. To cater to the personal preferences of musicians, the Yamaha YSS-875 EX comes with both straight and curved G2 bows.
