A potent beauty

Right out of the box Yamaha Storia III needed a set-up. Nut, saddle height and truss rod adjustment was necessary but what a lovely guitar you get! Sounds magnificent with enough low end to shame some dreadnoughts, sufficient volume and sparkling highs. Plugged in it's ok, pickup is very true but on stage you can feel the need for a preamp to fiddle with volume. It has a natural discreet chorus like sound and the sustain feels endless. I can't understand why Yamaha marketed as a beginner guitar this thing of beauty actually good enough for any stage.
Now let's talk about looks. Stunning! Beautiful lacquered finish, gold hardware, open tuners, discret binding but bold red line around the soundhole and, "la piece de resistance" - stained on the inside and a beautiful stancil instead of the paper label. I personally don't like the lacquered neck but I can live with it.
You get more guitar for the money then you expect and that's a great filling.

Received a glitchy guitar with defective strings

I can't say anything much other about this guitar than I received a broken instrument with defective strings, and guitar seemed to never been set up properly. Tuned the high E string and it was broken in 30 seconds!
For this price it is something you would never expect. But is made in China, so that solves the mystery.

Excellente guitare, très bien finie, le vernis de la table d'harmonie la rend encore plus belle, j'ai joué du blues et du jazz dessus, elle a un très bon son, très équilibré, le touche en noyer est très confortable et doux, Yamaha a fait très fort.

Tolle Gitarre für erstaunlich kleines Geld

Diese Gitarre war ein echter Glücksgriff. Ich hatte sie zunächst von privat gebraucht gekauft und war dann so begeistert, dass ich mir bei Thomann das gleiche Modell noch einmal als Neuware bestellt habe - als Backup.

Ich benutze die Gitarre als reine Strumming-Gitarre im Band-Setup und sie macht genau, was hier gefragt ist: klarer, crisper Sound, direkte Mitten ohne im Bassbereich Ärger mit Bass und E-Gitarre zu machen. Sie mischt sich sehr gut ein und braucht kaum EQ, um diese Aufgabe zu meistern.

Im Studio funktioniert die Gitarre für diese Aufgabe super akustisch einfach mit einem Großmembran abgenommen. Für Live-Gigs habe ich jedoch in beide Gitarren bessere Tonabnehmer eingebaut: in die eine Gitarre den L.R. Braggs Stagepro Elements und in die andere den Fishman Matrix. Beide werten den Sound über den Pickup nochmal deutlich auf. Klar, dass der verbaute Pickup hier eher eine nette Zugabe ist und nicht an Profi-Pickups rankommt.

Die Gitarre spielt sich butterweich (anfängertauglich), liegt gut in der Hand, Mechaniken funktionieren einwandfrei und sie hält die Stimmung sehr gut.

Kurzum: Die Gitarre macht wirklich Spaß! Und nach Upgrade des Pickups erfüllt sie sogar Profiansprüche im Bandkontext.
