PerFOURmer 2 - analogue monster

Looking at the Perfourmer as you open the box, you expect it to be physically quite heavy, but when you lift it out it is surprisingly light. The standard of manufacture and finish is A1 excellent and the multiple knobs and switches are well laid-out. When you connect MIDI and your mixer, setting up the voices is fairly straightforward and you can configure it as a four-osc mono with seperate filters for each osc, plus cross-mod/FM between oscillators and hard-sync so the sound is massive. Modulation is limited to one shared env and one lfo per voice, so is a little limited, but the awesome 24dB Vermona LPF and FM more than makes up for this - the sound is huge! Lush and rich and velvety but capable of snappy and hard edged tones too. The envelope response is 'snappy'. Each voice has the option to take an insert (post VCF) and is available as an individual output, as is the raw oscillator. The oscillator can be replaced with a seperate ext input on each channel too.
Those wishing to play polyphonically get the option to configure the synth as a four voice (single oscillator) poly or a two voice dual oscillator, and although it is a bit fiddly to set all the knobs to the same settings to get a uniform sound, it is worth the effort. Each voice gets its own pan knob so you can make really excellent wide analogue chords - add a bit of PWM and reverb (from your mixer) and you are in heaven.
The cv/gate option functions as you would expect and offers another route to modulate the oscillator frequencies - especially if you use it as an FM drone machine (it is a great drone synth) and throw some moogerfoogers into the inserts. Space is the place!

I am glad I bought this beauty - a real collectors item and quality worthy of the price. Waaay better than a Pro1, and a bigger sound than a Minimoog...

The Vermona Perfourmer MkII CV / Gate delights me hard.
As a "modul system-impaired" I was looking for a sophisticated, but transparent [!] And performance-oriented [!!] device.
And the name of Vermona is his name.
The completely analogue sound generation with 4 VCOs sounds absolutely bold, noble and lively. Above all the opposite of the MkI additional sine wave is very well "succeeded".
The modulation possibilities are manifold but nevertheless intuitive accessible. (For me, the decisive positive difference to full-module systems).

"Any link" is not quite correct, as the channels (VCO or LFO) can only be synced with the adjacent channel.
Class is that Midi / CV / Gate controllable functions and channels for each VCO can be set separately, up to the Midi-Clock!

Also important: processing from domestic production is valuable, stable and exemplary. The relatively large Potis have a great feel.

What is missed?
The puristic concept of the device appeals to me, others may miss a display, effects, presets, arpeggiator or an internal sequencer.
The concept of Perfourmers is not new, but unique in the market, an instrument with character - both optical and sound.

As a small game aid are stored in the device a few sequences, which can be played with the trigger buttons. They are musically simplistic, but they are well suited for creative manipulation and exploration.
If the Perfourmer sounds too soft or good and the filter sounds "creamy", use the single outs or insert functions.
I often run the Perfourmer with the Eventide Modfactor, a dream combo. T-Resonator and WMD Geigercounter are responsible for the (un) healthy portion of sound shaping and destruction.

Otherwise, little things remain on the wish list or luxury problems:
The tune controls of the VCOs have (according to the Vermona conscious) no center raster. This makes it very difficult to tune the unit clean. This restricts the use of quadruple polyphony. But well, you can get the surface sounds somewhere else.

To complete the dream: for the MkIII I would like switchable filter characteristics eg on bandpass, a ring modulator and for Synthkanal 1 a Waveshaper and wood side parts. That's it. :-)

The price may seem a bit high, but is absolutely justified by the quality of the offer - four high-quality analog synthesizers that can be connected.
