G
Amazing Synth with stellar sound textures, build and look
GregVDS 16.01.2025
This U.D.O. Super Gemini is an incredibly sounding instrument. The voice architecture with its binaural or full stereo path with phasing control points for LFO 1 is a true new approach in years of been there done that synths.

The command panel is a joy to use, and very easy to apprehend. Some regret the absence of screen. Well, it's a very conscious choice of the design team at U.D.O. to 'force' us to go with our ears and not numbers and menus. I appreciate this approach a lot, as constraints force you to innovate, think different, take notes maybe too.

The build quality is amazing, and I appreciate immensely that this instrument is entirely designed and built in Europe. It has a cost, but I'm proud to endorse this approach that maintain production and work here and limit environmental impact at the same time. U.D.O. has also a qualitative and ecological approach to their instruments (See the offer of a polyphonic aftertouch replacement keyboard for the Super 6 instead of a 'new' instrument just for that).

Nice support and steady firmware update it seems.

As for Thomann, quick shipping and perfect packaging, as usual :-).

Incredible

I’ve been lucky enough to play some of the greatest synths ever made.
But I must say, this might be the best synthesiser I’ve ever played, I hear some people saying it’s like a modern day CS 80 but I can tell you that it’s better in almost every way.
So well done U•D•O you have created a masterpiece.

Clean and Beautiful -- But Also a Little Confusing
Appoint 08.08.2025
I'm not usually a fan of external effects on synths, but you really owe it to yourself to run the Super Gemini through a nice reverb! This is where all the CS80 comparisons you've heard of come true.

The only decent current alternative to this is really the 3rd Wave -- and the only thing it lacks is a screen (this is the slightly confusing part)...

Be warned

If you want the best out of this synth, you will have to activate a "high precision" mode in the MIDI settings, which turns the synth all MIDI NRPN only and deactivate MIDI CC altogether and MIDI messages out. So if your plan is to include this synth in a regular setup, for automation or MIDI controlling with CC, you should carefully read the manual and contact UDO support first to discuss your use case specifically. I did not...
