The only flaw is the really cheap ligature. Otherwise the instrument is well-tuned and sharp, with really bright sound. I would suggest it to anyone who wants a soprano. I love it!

A real surprise!

22.03.2017
I have been playing Soprano Saxophone for almost 30 years and have been looking for a valuable travel training instrument for my precious bent of another brand, which is as similar as possible from the finger position. The market for Chinese "beginner's instruments" is unmanageable, but Thomann helps - as so often - with reasonable pre-selection and is not so far away from me.

In short, the TCS-350 is worth every penny in terms of its price, which could also be left for a noble mouthpiece! I've modified a bit, but to that later.

First, my highly subjective contribution to the usual main criteria.

Mouthpiece: For me unplayable, as much too tight. The low notes are a spasm, the high speak badly. Before a blind buy frustration comes up, I recommend absolutely alternatives to try out. With one of my other mouthpieces (eg Selmer Supersession F) immediately all these problems were eradicated! Desperation Alternatives: See "Modifications" below.

Intonation: With the SSSF without any conspicuous outliers, I would even say above-average good. The TCS-350 even has the elaborate Cis '' compensating mechanism like the Serie III - great! (Ceterum Censeo: A Soprano is not a calibrated tool and always requires individual experience with the respective instrument and corresponding compensation, also with Yanagisawa etc.)

Speech: With the SSSF in all areas faultlessly. No flutter, no quitters.

Sound: rich in overtone, cool but not shrill (supported by the relatively sharp SSSF). The Thoman Customline, which is about EUR 400 more expensive, is warmer, but it has a completely different flap position for the left small finger - so it is not suitable for me.

Mechanics: Everything is working, everything is working out, everything is quite easy. High-fis, Front-F, said Cis '' compensation, small finger rocker, Pisonipolster with metal reflectors, detachable S-bow (twist is error source!), March fork mount at the ring of the straps. In the absence of long-term experience I can not say anything about the durability.

Materials: Ok. The varnish is beautifully golden and decorated with engraving. You will not fall in love with the details. Here was saved, very clearly. The sheet metal is thin, especially in the case of flap protection, the apparently efficient production is noticeable, the flap or lever material is rather soft. The springs make a good impression. The flaps are heard quite open when opening and closing.

Accessories: Everything you need to get started with, wiper, carrying strap, cloth, no-name leaflet, plastic mouthpiece (see above) with capsule and ligature, giant and heavy backpack case with outer bag and various carrying options. In this case, the instrument is protected in any case.

Modifications: As a matter of principle, a new instrument should be inspected in detail. Small error settings can considerably obscure the initial clearance. By and large, I have received from Thomann a properly tested and adjusted saxophone, only minor things I have readjustiert. Caution: Adjustments, such as the following, will invalidate the guarantee claim and lend the risk of destroying the instrument. I will mention it anyway. I have modified the sharp - edged plastic support of the left thumb (with sandpaper and hot air), the position of the palmkeys, of which the lowest (F) was in my way, and the mouth of the mouth, with careful sanding and polishing / 1000 inch) has been extended and adapted. The result is now a 100% playable, well intoning soprano, which makes me a lot of fun and I can also give beginners in the hand!

Conclusion: The reviews on the TCS-350 here at Thomann scatter strongly. Perhaps the quality of the production actually differs, but I believe more 1.) false expectations of a Sopransaxophon in general (especially as a beginner instrument !?) and 2.) the strange delivered mouthpiece. In any case, despite my strong initial skepticism, I was very positively surprised by the possibilities of such a favorable instrument and I am very happy with the purchase decision today!
