Simple plastic, no need for anything more. Sadly I have an old Yamaha, and I bought this with a new case, since I was told the inside was quite big. Turns out it can't fit in the case, even tho it's snug with the sax. I think if I went with the Yamaha body protector it would have worked, because of my saxophone's size, but if you aren't sure just get a few, they are pretty cheap.

A bit too small

I wouldn't recommend this if you have a vintage tenor sax, I own a Buescher 1936 and the cap is a bit too small for it.

Fits perfectly on my Yanagisawa.
