Battery-powered active speaker

The MBA1 from the box pro is a mobile, battery-powered active speaker for a wide range of applications. Its built-in lithium-ion battery with a 3,600mAh capacity provides enough power for roughly four hours of operation and takes just two-and-a-half hours to charge. Four LEDs on the rear panel indicate the current charge level. The MBA1’s black polymer housing contains a two-way speaker system which includes an eight-inch woofer and a one-each tweeter, both driven by a 120W (RMS) amplifier. All of the necessary connections and controls are also conveniently located on the back of the speaker.

Built-in three-channel mixer

In addition to the power inlet for mains operation and battery charging, the MBA1 also features a comprehensively equipped three-channel mixer. The first two channels are equipped with mic/line sockets that allow both XLR and 6.35mm (1/4”) TRS connectors to be used for input signals. They are switchable between line and mic levels and have separate volume, treble, and bass controls. The level of reverb can also be adjusted on each channel via its dedicated knob. The third channel is stereo and, in addition to its RCA and mini-jack connections, also enables wireless connection via Bluetooth. The MBA1 also has a USB port that can be used, for example, for powering mobile phones or other devices used to play back music.

Sonic versatility

Extensive connection and control options are just one of this speaker’s many great features. Its broad frequency response, spanning 50Hz to 20kHz, is also noteworthy and perfectly suited to many different situations. Three built-in presets – Music, Vocal, and Guitar – are available for further fine-tuning of the sound and allow the speaker's characteristics to be effortlessly adapted to a number of given applications without any prior knowledge of sound engineering. Should more than one speaker be required at an event, the XLR output on the rear panel can be used to route the mix of all the input channels to additional speakers.
