Fantastic quality but.......

This is a replica of a Tibetan BonPo shaman drum and its pretty authentic in materials and sound. I love mine and its become my main drum. A couple of points to consider:
1. the drum is not lightweight. The frame is hardwood and quite heavy
2. the skin is easily slackened by the damp or cold. I think this drum shape makes it more prone to slackening. You can easily tighten the skin by passing the drum over flame though.
All in all a very good quality drum with a distinctive sound that stands out from the run of the mill frame drums.

Es ist die Trommel, die uns ruft

In der spirituellen Szene wird üblicherweise viel Aufwand getrieben um die Wahl der richtigen Schamanentrommel: Manche pilgern zum begnadeten Trommelbaumeister, andere bauen sich Ihre Trommel selber in teuren Workshops, andere bekommen sie von anderen Schamanen, sie werden in Zeremonien gesegnet und in Schwitzhütten besungen. Die Schamanentrommel ist ein magischer und heiliger Gegenstand, weniger ein Musikinstrument. Sie nimmt uns mit auf die Reise. Und nur die Trommel macht noch keinen Schamanen. Nun gibt es sie bei Thomann für alle, zu einem ungeschlagenen Preis und mit DHL am nächsten Tag geliefert. Aber wenn die Geister das so wollen ist das sicher in Ordnung:-) Hey ya!
Ich arbeite viel mit Schamanen zusammen und habe auch einige CDs gemacht mit Ihnen. Dabei entstand der Wunsch eine Schamanentrommel zu haben, auch wenn ich kein Schamane bin sondern nur so ein verstaubter Elektronik-Geek und dröger Buddhist, der immer noch den samsarischen elektronischen Zauberkästchen des ausgehenden Weltzeitalters des Kali-Yugas anhaftet und sich mit kindlicher Freude jeden Tag immer neu über sie freut, wie als Kind stolz über die erste Quarzuhr. Ich kann nicht so zaubern, wie es die Schamanen tun, sondern nur mit Maus und PC. Jedenfalls ist es praktisch immer eine Schamanentrommel dabei zu haben, dann kann man gemeinsam mit Ihnen trommeln. Das mögen Sie und macht allen Freude. Von der Verarbeitung, klanglich und optisch ist an dieser Trommel nichts auszusetzen, und auch die Schamanen haben sich bisher nicht über sie beschwert.
Aber eine Schamanentrommel soll mehr als gut klingen und gut aussehen. Eigentlich sind die Verarbeitung, der Klang und das Aussehen auch völlig egal.
Ihr steter monotoner Klang klingt in unseren Herzen, er wird gehört wie der Herzschlag im Bauch der Mutter (-Erde), er soll uns fort tragen, fort, fort, zu den Seelen der Ahnen, den Geistern, den Bächen, Flüssen, Bäumen, Bergen... Und darüber hinweg.. Fort, hin fort... In andere Welten, jenseits des Regenbogens... Uns neu geboren machen... In ein neues Leben, eine neue Welt...
Ob das mit dieser Trommel gelingt, kann nur das Herz jeden einzelnen entscheiden, denn es ist die Trommel, die uns ruft.

Ce tambour possède un rapport qualité-prix remarquable. Le son est exceptionnel, profond, riche, envoûtant. C'est la 2ème fois que je l'achète, le premier était aussi totalement remarquable point de vue son mais avait un talon d'Achille : la fragilité du cadre. Celui-ci a en effet fini par rompre après 2 années d'utilisation, se fendant et se vrillant de manière irréversible. Il faut dire aussi que je l'avait beaucoup sollicité en jouant avec en extérieur (chaleur, humidité), néanmoins ce fut une vraie déception car je n'avais jamais eu ce problème avec les tambours ronds que j'avais utilisé au préalable.
Cependant, divine surprise à la réception de ce nouveau tambour octogonal (que j'avais décidé de recommander malgré tout pour l'incroyable qualité du son) : le cadre a été épaissi, donc il sera probablement beaucoup plus résistant désormais... Bravo à Thomann pour cette conscience professionnelle qui consiste à savoir faire évoluer un produit.
Vraiment un tambour à recommander sans hésitation, bien meilleur que certains tambours coûtant plus du double : une grande réussite !
Commentaire de juillet 2020 : il faut apporter une nuance à ces éloges. La tendance des tambours Terré consiste de plus en plus à avoir la peau beaucoup trop tendue !!!
Observation effectuée sur les tambours de mes stagiaires auquel j'ai recommandé cette marque chez Thomann ainsi que sur mes derniers achats. Gros inconvénient ! Ça oblige à défaire la peau, à la retremper et la retendre ce qui n'est pas une mince affaire !
