A new standard in affordable mixing and monitoring? Its looking like it

Brian1047, 21.12.2016
A new standard in affordable mixing and monitoring ?
It's looking like it.

If you go and check the best selling headphones on here at the moment you will see Superlux HD-681at number 2.
And for very good reason.....
If you check again at all the prices in the top ten you will also see that they are the cheapest by far, out selling others at 10x the price
This has to be telling you something !

Now the B, version of the 681, the umph will tell you they have a more flat response bass frequency than the normal 681, ( as the normal 681 have been hightend )
And yes, true to their word, they have done just that, mine seem to have cut only slightly the very lows, and more, after a and b tests the hi freq are more extended in these, and wider sounding than the HD 681.

all that effort they have done to address the situation, redesigned and tuned the speakers, for what ?
not a penny more !
would any other company even be bothered do this ??
to give two options of a very cheap set of headphones?

So in use, yes they have the sub bass rolled off abit, but still have alot moer than say DT100, if you are coming to them from dt100s you may even like the more open wide range sound of these better,
I like the normal 681 for mixing as i am so use to them now.
but for monitoring guitar and key players im sure will like these better as you dont get all that bass booming as in the normal 681, well, maybe not booming, more a sort of thick warmth, nice if you like that, and some will, but thats not how it will go down on tape, if you want to hear how it will be recorded, a more true sound while monitoring i would get these.
But.. its all subjective.

For what they cost, what have you got to loose ?

i am really happy with them in the studio as they offer an option if people are not happy with the sound.

So, all in all... a studio option for £16 ???

Maybe now you are starting to see why they are now number 2 ?......... BUT.... only for now !
keep your eye on it.
It's looking like it.

High price-performance ratio

tonimor, 25.08.2017
I own a Beyerdynamic DT-880 (250 Ohm) and orded this one for a member of my family.
For this low-price it's pretty amazing how this headphone performs. The sound of the "B" version of the HD-681 offers an almost balanced sound. I liked it way more than the "EVO" version, it's more comparable to the DT-880 I own.

The comfort is quite okay for a short amount of time, but it would get annoying after more than 1 hour (because of the plastic feel of the ear pads and warm ears). To improve this, I'd recommend to buy different earpads, e.g. the AKG K240/241/270/271 or SHURE SRH 940 velour ear pads.

The quality is "okay" for that price, the headphones look cheap but they will do their job at home.

All in all I'd recommened these one over any <100¤ headphone I know.
