It could Have Been Better than Focusrite Clarett+8Pre if...
SSL 18 was my short lived upgrade from Clarett+8Pre.
Positives:
1. Potentially better up to date hardware.
2. Better up to date software.
Negatives:
0. It heats up more than a USB interface should.
1. Unbeknown to me the serial number flimsy sticker fell off the SSL18 during the unboxing and spent a day on the bottom of my shoe until I discovered it by chance in such a poor condition that it can be barely read.
2. Something small and metallic sounding was rattling inside the chassis.
3. The optical input 2 did not receive ADAT signal, so I had to return the unit and upgrade to the bit more expensive MOTU 828 (2014)
4. The SSL Customer support is non existent and replaced by a very weak AI agent to whom my own AI agent (Claude) refused to talk after a short exchange leading to my agent requesting to talk to a human instead. We laughed together in binary code lol
