It does "that" 50's P sound.
These seem to replicate 51/54 Fender pickups well. Punchy, big sound but a bit more focussed sounding than the, later, Split P design. I hadn't expected there to be so much detail in the notes when using roudwound strings (my experience with a 54 P bass had flats on it.... String zing, colourful high mids, growly low mids, tight focussed bass. A bit like a slightly over wound J pickup, with a lot more punch and thicker sound, but a lot of clarity.
Whith flatwounds this pickup punches out solid, midrange-heavy, tones.
(I use DR rounds and tried Rotes and TI flats... the it's will live on this bass for a while... however I think Fenders may do it more justice...)
Great Pickup
Love it!

wow
Really good full range sound, very 50's, but with more range,I put it on a self build, was going to put a jazz pup on the bridge as well but didn't need to, on its own this did the job, very pleased.

Five star for vintage mojo
I used this to improve a squire bass I have. Sound is fantastic and so is the price. Added a lot of vintage vibe and roundness without the honk. Great pick up.
