Professional pedalboards

The company RockBoard specialises in pedalboards, including accessories, and has been offering a wide range of professional-quality products in this field for many years. RockBoard's portfolio includes pedalboards in various sizes and price ranges, ensuring the right product for every guitarist and bassist. The CINQUE 5.2 is a relatively large board designed to accommodate effects pedals over as many as four rows. Like all RockBoard pedalboards, the CINQUE 5.2 (available here as a bundle with a matching flight case) boasts all the features and expansion options of the product line, including a highly robust construction. The key attributes of the RockBoard CINQUE 5.2 at a glance: Relatively compact, solid, portable, and highly flexible.

A proper home for those pedals

Measuring 622 x 424mm (L x D), the RockBoard CINQUE 5.2 provides space for 10 to 20 effects pedals, which can be arranged across four rows. All pedals are easily accessed and operated by foot courtesy of the 10° angled board surface. Produced from cold-rolled aluminium sheet, the board’'s robust yet lightweight (approximately 3.9kg) construction can more than endure the rigours of life on tour. The black powder coating not only looks cool but is also resistant to external influences. A unique feature of the RockBoard pedalboard is the slot system, which allows pedals to be mounted with a single click. The RockBoard CINQUE 5.2 also features suitable slots or ports for connecting other accessories, such as power supplies and LED lights, and comes in a robust flight case with sufficient quantities of self-adhesive hook and loop tape.

Creating space and order

As a player's pedal collection increases, so does the tangled weave of power and patch cables, where achieving a neat and space-saving pedal setup seems nigh on impossible. This is where the pedalboard comes in - bringing order to the user's effects pedal arrangement. The necessary power supply can be mounted underneath the board, with "underground" cable routing. The pedals themselves can be securely fastened in parallel using hook and loop tape or the click system. RockBoard's ultra-flat and flexible patch cables will also prove helpful here. The CINQUE 5.2 is ideal for guitarists and bassists who own and wish to use multiple pedals, allowing several multi-power supplies to be mounted via slot or on its underside.

About RockBoard

RockBoard is a brand belonging to Warwick Music Distribution GmbH, which is based in Markneukirchen in Germany's Vogtland region. RockBoard's range focuses on pedalboards, which are available in numerous different designs to suit any application and budget, and are complemented by an extensive range of pedalboard accessories, from slick patchbays for expanding the boards and high-quality patch cables for loss-free connection through to high-performance power adapters and the "QuickMount system" for rapid effect changes. In short, RockBoard offers virtually everything that players need to easily set up their own individual pedalboard.

Matching accessories

RockBoard not only offers a wide range of pedalboards but also practical accessories and expansion options, including the simple yet ingenious slot system, which allows pedals from renowned manufacturers such as MXR or BOSS to be "clicked" into the corresponding slot on the pedalboard. RockBoard also provides a power supply solution in the form of its proprietary Universal Power Supplies (UPS), which fit into the corresponding slots on the board or can be discreetly attached to the underside. For dark stages, RockBoard offers LED lights which simply screw into the port on the side of the board and are powered via the UPS. Additional accessories include pedal risers and step-ups for elevating one or more pedals, not to mention custom-fit cases and bags for its pedalboard range.

Gran pedalboard
Maasvadt 11.03.2022

You need a roadie for this one

The board itself is nicely put together. The finish is nice too.
However there are many design flaws that I had to fix myself.

1. Super heavy - I'm sure they could use a lighter material like Pedaltrain for example. I removed the two "reinforcements" underneath as they add to the weight and as it is the board is still strong so this was an easy fix.

2. I bought the Rockboard Mod1. This is heavy as well ( 550g). One would expect that some plastic jacks and an AC plug in would not be so heavy. Most likely the enclosure is heavier than the components themselves.
Look at the specs before you buy ( I didn't). The board plus the Rockboard Mod1 and a power supply are now 6kg and the board is EMPTY :).
With 12 pedals and a Boss ES-8 on top of it is close to 10 kg. Add the hard-case to that and you have, at least, a weight of 21 kg.
It is quite heavier than my Fender Blues Deluxe Junior.

3. The hardcase is a lot bigger than I was expecting. The photo advertised here is not accurate. It makes you believe that the hard-case is designed to fit the board. It actually has an "internal compartment". Yes, that extra space is useful but anything you put in there will ad to the weight :). Take a good look at the measurements (I didn't).

4. The mounting space purposed for the Rockboard install is a nice idea but it is actually impractical. Try connecting a cable in front of your board and you will end up with the cable crossing over you pedals and very possibly this will adjust you pedal(s) set up.

5. The Rockboard Mod 1needs an extra cable if you want to connect it with your power supply. And you will want this. Such a cable is ~ 4 euro but they could have included it.

6. I will mount some handles in order to lift the board with ease.

Overall the quality is fine but the overall package is super heavy and quite big, making it difficult to carry.

Good board with some drilling
paap 03.09.2018
Board seems to be of good quality while having slight flex in the middle. The way holes are lined up help nicely with cable management, as there are always convenient places where to take patch cables below out of sight.

The case weights ~13kg without contents and is extremely sturdy. With attached wheels it is quite easy to manoeuvre around when packed with a board full of pedals. Small compartment within the case is perfect to stash away tools, instrument cables, etc.

One major flaw which presented itself was with the design of the frame support beams. As I also purchased the Tray to help with storing the power supply, I found out that there are only two possible places where the Tray may be attached to the bottom of the board. One at the front, and the other at the very back.

Having slightly large (Cioks DC10) power supply, attaching the tray at the back position was impossible with the MOD patchbay as there was no clearance for the power cable into the patch bay. There is no middle position designed for the Tray, as the frame lacks holes in which the Tray would be attached. Prepare to drill some new one if using the Tray.

Super Pedalboard!
