Paiste 20" Masters Dark Crash Ride

I bought this cymbal when I was looking for something that could fit me in both louder and quieter musical contexts. I’ve watched a short interview with Noah Fürbringer and he seemed to really back this cymbal up as a great all rounder, so I thought I would give it a shot.

I think this is hands down the coolest cymbal that I own right now. It’s way different from everything else that I played until now and it really has a unique character. The sound is full, washy and warm. The wash is so rich and satisfying, it feels like you’re somehow navigating waves when you’re playing it haha. I still have to pay attention to its dynamics though. Crashes beautifully, with a slightly trashy accent. Has a slightly spongy feel, if that makes sense. Kind of like invites you to dig into it.

I warmly recommend giving it a try, “worst” case you’ll probably just end up saying “what a cool cymbal!”.

Das Becken entspricht ziemlich genau meinen Vorstellungen. Es ist sehr dünn und spricht sehr schnell an. Die Sounds vom Rideklang und Crashklang unterscheiden sich relativ stark voneinander. Während die Ride washy klingt und einen leichtfüßigen Sticksound liefert, ist das Crash sehr direkt und eher mit einem hohen "White-Noise"-Anteil. Der Crashsound hat daher Anteile von einem China. Sehr reizvolle Kombination, aber auch etwas ungewöhnlich. Beeindruckend ist der Dynamikumfang. Das Becken kann von extrem leise bis mittlere Lautstärke wirklich alles bedienen. Es spricht auch sehr sensibel auf Besen, Rods und verschiedene Stickarten an. Nur für sehr laute Gigs, wo man sich zum Beispiel im Rockkontext gegen verzerrte Gitarren durchsetzen muss, würde ich es nicht empfehlen. Perfekt finde ich es für Singer-Songwriter-, Jazz-, Funk- und ruhige Pop-Musik. Meine Mitmusiker waren sofort begeistert. Perfekt harmoniert das 20" Crash-Ride übrigens mit der 22" Dark Ride von der Masters-Serie zusammen. Ausprobieren!
