Top guitar

Philip aus R., 13.09.2012
The Style O is just a wonderful guitar. I tried out all Resos at Thomann and landed on this guitar. Ultimately, the decision was only between National guitars. The Style O is very powerful in the sound, has long sustain, is beautifully processed, string position is great, quite flat, so that you can play auhc without bottle-neck in a good mood.

Conclusion: If you want a Dobro, rather spend more money, dispense with built-in pick-ups and prefer to stick with ne AKG 411c to the rear end of the biscuit, with his EQ 500 Hz lower something, then you get the loud and stage suitable.

AN OUTSTANDING INSTRUMENT

23.11.2015
Aesthetically, this guitar never leaves indifferent! Its "retro" side, due in large part to the beauty of the nickel-plated brass body, its decorations (sanding obtained by sandblasting, airbrushed at the origin) evoking Hawaiian scenes and the junction sleeve / crate at the 12th frette, leave no doubt: it is a good of a beautiful faithful reissue of period instruments. The violin is exemplary.

The handle is wide but very comfortable (be careful however to "little hands" and regulars-followers of 14 frets or "cut-aways": adaptation of the game and mandatory positions! Contortions often mandatory to reach the boxes beyond the 11th fret ...)
Side sound, the atmosphere is there. Nothing better to play "Early Jazz" or Ragtime. Very typical, with deep bass, brilliant highs and an incredible sunstain. Again, adaptation (or learning) of the game particular and indispensable on this instrument not to sound "cacophony"!
Attention, we are not there in the presence of a guitar "standard".
Bluesmen in search of "Sound" -in slide in particular- will rather set their sights on the model "steel", which will be perfect for the exercise.

Personally, having several National, I could note some differences to take into account between the models 12 and 14 frets:
The "12", with their slightly longer box (this is of course not the handle that is longer on the "14" but the body which is shorter) benefit (in my opinion), low more present, more round, to the detriment of course of easy accessibility to acute boxes - not insurmountable, but which must be taken into account ...
The models "steel" are more destined to the game "Delta Blues" and particularly adapted to the bottleneck, that they are Style O or Tricone (parenthesis, on a Tricone it is downright magic!) And the models "Brass" (brass ) will easily find a suitable place in the games "Swing", "Early Jazz", "Ragtime" or "Hawaiian". Listen to Bob Brozman (steel or brass), Oscar Aleman (brass), Tampa Red (steel), or Roy Smeck (steel or brass) -and many more- to judge and compare ...

Regarding this latest acquisition, I will say that Thomann has ensured. Perfect service, competitive rates, carefully made packaging and attentive delivery and above all an exemplary customer follow-up! No complaints. A little personal message to me: bravo Olivier!
