Ended up using rivets
Joe Montana 23.10.2019
Here is the story...
Bought this particular one over many types in other shops because it looked like the best one, good design, no sharp edges, rubber feet, so when it came I thought it would only take 10 minutes to assemble, and under an hour in total to equip the rack with mixer, etc.
I made the mistake of assembling this on a sofa, so it was wobbly on the table, I loosened everything and then tighten everything on the flat surface. Wobble fixed, 10 minutes.

This is where my troubles began...
I noticed that the whole thing was leaning to the left, so I tried bending it and re-tightening the bolts. It didn't help, so I figured that inserting the mixer and other units would straighten it out (which it did, in the end).

So I lay the rack down and placed the mixer in position, I slid it upwards to check out the spacing, and found out the top part was very narrow. I cycled to the local town for a bag of washers to space the rack top a bit wider. After putting them in, I saw that the top was still too narrow. It turned out that the top bar was too short by about an inch. I had to remove it completely by the end.
If I was in charge of the manufacturing, that product would not leave the factory until that issue is fixed.
But that's not the end of it...

Started putting in the screws and found that they only go in about halfway, not enough to secure the mixer.
It turns out that the black powder coating / paint that is on the rack is also in the bolt threads and on the bolts themselves, so they simply don't fit the holes anymore.
The bolt steel is not hard enough to "push" the paint out by turning the bolts, they just get mushed up instead. Using a chainsaw file to trim off some of the paint doesn't work either, you just trim off the threads aswel. I'm not going into town for a tap-and-die set to try re-thread the holes, I might as well make my own rack from scratch.

As it was getting later in the evening, I opened a drink and sat to think about how to proceed.
I could either send it back to Thomann (takes a week) and then shop around for a different one, or cycle to the village the next day for M4 nuts and bolts (I recommend), or I could use rivets.
I decided to use rivets as I was losing patience with this thing and wanted to be done with it.

So I revetted in the mixer, no problem, I had the rivets, washers, tool, etc.
Drum module is next, again it went more or less to plan, with some swearing.
Next came the Novation Peak. After putting on the rack ears I saw that the unit would not fit the rack. I calmly sat down and had another drink.
i finally decided to bend the top of the rack outwards, enough to drop in the synthesizer. This worked and with some more swearing and grunting I was soon finished. 2 hours altogether, instead of 1.

Conclusion
Eventually goes together the way you want it, but not without a lot of work on your part.
Because of the tilt angle, the first 2 unit slots from the bottom are only of use with units that are very shallow, like a power strip or socket patches. The top unit is also occupied by the useless steel bar.
This gap at the bottom gives you space to put other items on the desk, like a semi-modular synthesizer, Beatstep pro or effects pedals.

It says in the documentation that the rubber feet may stick to certain surfaces over time, so judging by the fiasco so far I can guess that they will corrode and weld themselves into the desk so well that it will take a hammer and chisel to get them off. I am counting the days. I may use beer mats under the feet

Overall - worth it if you can deal with the manufacturing shortcomings.

Useful for a home studio with a couple of caveats
Andy Fereday 11.08.2025
I'm setting up a new home studio and I wanted to use my A&H Zed 18 (previously used in my live PA but redundant since the pandemic). I've bought the rack mounts for the mixer and with a little bit of tweaking, it's now sitting very firmly in this rack mount.
I read the previous comments about the problems with the nuts and frame both being powder coated, so I bought a cheap tap and thread set from screwfix and gently cut fresh threads in the existing holes. It didn't take much effort or strength and the screws fitted cleanly without any problems. I've not used the top bar, but the rack is very stable without it.
A couple of points to mention: I don't think this is going to be perfect for larger rack mount gear, the screw hole positioning is really aimed for maybe a maximum of 4U-6U pieces. I've only been able to use two holes on each side for the mixer, but that is still enough to get a good solid build.
The other thing to mention is that the plastic handle caps which fit over the bolts for the bottom cross bar were too weak to tighten the bolts, and came off, meaning I had to tighten them with a wrench. Nothing very serious, a mild nuisance and nothing more, but it would annoy me more if I didn't have my toolbox nearby.
I would buy these again, and I have actually ordered another couple for other studio gear.

I summary, these are perfectly usable with a little bit of care. I like how sturdy they are and the fact that they are slightly angled - it makes it easier to access and see the mixer, even if it's nearly at floor level. I've knocked off one star for overall and one for quality which I think is fair given the things I've mentioned. Still very happy.

For the price it's doable...
sdk75 20.10.2021
I bought this to rack up my Behringer Xenyx 2224 mixer and although the 4 holes on each side of the Behringer rack ears don't line up with the rack's holes, I could use the 2 upper holes on each side of the B' rack ears to fit in the mixer on top of the rack. It stands really firm on the table and in the end I'm quite happy with it. Beneath the mixer there is still room for a tabletop device. I've read in another review that the screws don't sink in nicely and that's true. It's rather impossible to bolt the screws in by hand. Instead I've used my Makita screwdriver and could force them into the holes. Total assembly time for me: 15 minutes. Having a mixer up in front of you is an enjoyable experience. Happy with this cheap solution!

OK for the price but not great
berlinomatic 30.07.2025
Screws and bolts on this are very poor quality - the rubber 'turners' on the bolts holing the frame together come off as you tighten the frame together, and the threads on the screws and screwholes on the frames don't work unless you use real force to tighten them together (I had to use an electric screwdriver) - and I wouldn't trust them to maintain grip after multiple tighten / untighten cycles. So it's not great... But for the price it's okay - just don't expect K+M quality.

Dont waste your money
mbolge 23.10.2019
I got these to use at home for some rack equipment I have. I haven't had and problems with millennium equipment before this and the price was good so I decided to go for two of them.
This is possibly the worst quality piece of equipment I have ever received, it is a total waste of money. Do not buy this unless you want to be disappointing. When I put the first one together I though maybe I just got a dud, but the second one was the exact same.
The screws supplied are near impossible to screw into the rack with no equipment in play, never mind trying it while holding some equipment in place. It's almost like the screw holes were tapped, and then the coating was applied afterwards, so now the screws don't fit it properly.
Save yourself the money and buy something better than this. They are totally unusable, mine are going in the bin, the cost to return them isn't worth the effort.

DO NOT BUY THIS!!!
DK-Hey 01.03.2023
Received the racks and after assembly they are not holding together and everything is really loose og wiggly.

It is designed in an angle so you cant have anything over 5 cm in depth mounted in the bottom 2U.

There is basicly no thread and the thread that there is, is full of excess welding material. That makes it so that the screws dont go in at all. I managed to get two screws to go in about 3 turns but that was it... While trying this most of the screws ended up breaking.

All in all worst thomann experience. It does not even make sense to return becuase it would cost more than the racks.

Conclusion dont waste your time with this!

Goods okay but needs manual hole threading
From Sweden 29.05.2019
The product has a manufacturing step where they thread the holes first and then powder coat (paint). In the powder coat step, the threads are filled with paint and the screws no longer fit in the 48 rack holes on the front.

This can be solved with tools such as a tap holder and a standard tap for M5 (5 mm diameter). The result will be good, but remember to clean and oil the tap after each hole threading. The time it takes to do this by hand on a rack is about 2 hours and of course it lowers the rating for its quality.

The thickness of the goods in this product is okay and after threading you will not have the complaints that the threads break like with the “Adam Hall STRS12U Rack Stand 12U” (less goods, weighs less).

It is advantageous to buy M5 nylon washers for the rack screws to protect the rack units' rack ears during assembly.

Ordered two of these and the delivery arrived fast. However, one of them was defective (crocked) at arrival (slightly crocked welding joints). After creating an RMA Thomann decided to give me the money back for the defective stand and I did not have to return it.

Not impressed
Andre1865 21.11.2020
Sadly, this rack stand does not impress. The low price is reflected in the low quality. the screws that come with the kit, the ones you need to mount gear in the rack, are just a tiny bit too large to fit in the holes without being massively forced. rendering the stand almost useless until you go out and replace th screws with better ones.

No brainer for quick small rack expansions or sub - racks!
The OG Techmix 10.10.2023
Simple and easy to setup.. stable enough for most situations, Great for the price. Open racks are sometimes very useful! Might buy another for a tabletop.

**No resonance from high sound levels!
