Great, warm, head!

I got this to change the skin on my pearl compact travelers built in snare drum and mod it closer to a low or a floor tom sound by tuning lower and deactivating the strings.

I had already done this with the original white head that comes with it but it had a more, low pitched darbuka kind of sound.

With this head, its much closer to sounding like a low or floor tom even though its just a 10 inch head and it was not intended for such low tuning.

I have combinded it with a single moongel and its ready for recording!

An experiment with spray

I actually have Οnyx on my kit. But I wanted to try out something on my new 10" and 12" snare. I got Admiral and Eminence and painted them with matte black on the back.
And damn, they looked pretty! Matte didn't "come out", they still looked shiny above, but Admiral being 1ply retained a reflective quality like a dark mirror.
Most importantly, overtones were still there, even with the Eminence, and I still got the sound I looked for without paying much. If it sounds stupid and it works, it ain't stupid..
Now you can try this with any color and match your kit!

Es ist kein Ersatz für ein Emperor

Felle sind immer Geschmackssache.
Von der Verarbeitung kann man nicht meckern. Das Fell ist sauber gearbeitet, liegt plan auf und passt genau. Bis es überhaupt einen nennswerten Sustain erzeugt musste ich es sehr hoch ziehen. Selbst dann fand ich den Klang nicht nur gedämpft sondern schon dumpf, Null Obertöne.
Obwohl die Namensgebung der neuen Fellreihen Admiral und Eminence an die Reihen Ambassador und Emperor erinnern sollen ist dies nicht der Fall. Hätte ich mir eigentlich denken können, bei dem Preis. Von mir bekommt dieses Fell keine Kaufempfehlung
