Analogue soul in the digital world

Two real VU meters, right there on the desk! The Harrison Flex-10 brings the look, and of course the sound, of classic Harrison consoles into the age of the audio interface. The Flex-10 has two channel strips with analogue Harrison preamps, H-Drive transformer saturation, and filters derived from the legendary 32 Series consoles – ready for today's mics and instruments. The result is recordings with a genuine analogue feel. For more inputs, producers can simply hook up an ADAT device and add eight more, with MIDI on board too. Conversion is high-grade, at 32-bit/192kHz. In the box, alongside the external power supply, are software licences for Mixbus 12, Harrison's own DAW, as well as the Harrison Creator Pack, so musicians can keep shaping their sound on screen. On macOS and Linux, the Flex-10 runs driver-free (class compliant); on Windows it uses Harrison's own ASIO/WDM driver.

Plug it in

Each of the Flex-10's two channel strips features an analogue Harrison preamp, sweepable high- and low-pass filters, and adjustable H-Drive transformer saturation. H-Drive adds harmonic overtones and just the right amount of grit, so the signal hits the recording stage with genuine analogue character. Up front on the metal chassis, the Hi-Z inputs for both channels sit within easy reach for guitar or bass, alongside the two headphone outputs. Round the back are two stereo output pairs (Main and Alt) for two sets of monitors, two inserts with separate send and return jacks, and the inputs for both channel strips: Each channel takes a mic (XLR), a line signal (jack) or an instrument via the front panel. The connectivity is rounded out with the power connector, a USB-C port, optical ADAT I/O, and MIDI in and out on mini-jacks.

Check the levels

Studio owners can use the Flex-10 to bring the sound of analogue Harrison consoles into the interface era. The continuously variable high- and low-pass filters (which are derived from Harrison's renowned 32 Series consoles) help to carve out space for every track before the mix even starts. Any producer who wants the strengths of tried-and-tested analogue gear on their recordings will find that the Flex-10 has a lot to offer. Even checking the levels feels like walking into a vintage studio: The VU meters can be switched to display either the Main or the Alt outputs, just like on a classic Harrison desk. Under the hood, the converters give professional users high-resolution 32-bit/192kHz quality. And the interface slots easily into an existing setup: The dual monitor outputs feed two pairs of speakers, each with its own level control.

About Harrison

Harrison Audio is a US-based manufacturer of professional studio equipment, located in Nashville, Tennessee. Founded in 1975 by Dave Harrison, the company gained fame for pioneering the "in-line" mixing console design, which remains an industry standard today. Harrison consoles have been used in countless music productions, as well as in film, television, and broadcasting, earning the brand a revered status in pro audio. Today, Harrison offers not only mixing consoles but also high-end 500-series modules and digital tools, including the Mixbus DAW and a range of plug-ins. By merging classic analogue technology with modern innovation, Harrison continues to be an integral part of professional music and media production.

Hit record

In the studio, this interface gives any musician's sound a distinctive vintage character, making the Flex-10 a great way to combine the strengths of analogue recording with the flexibility of digital editing. Guitarists and bassists can use the filters and H-Drive to shape their sound right at the recording stage. If a session calls for more channels, an ADAT preamp would add eight extra inputs, although these bypass the H-Drive and filters. For mixing, Harrison Mixbus 12 and the Harrison Creator Pack are already included, and since Mixbus also runs on Linux, Linux users get a complete recording system out of the box. And in cramped home studios and busy rehearsal rooms, the rugged metal chassis really pays off, with two players recording together, each on their own headphones, each enjoying that classic analogue sound.

Super Audio-Interface -- Linux-kompatibel
german-musicologist 08.09.2026

Kurz: Ich find's toll!
