Very impressive for the price

William5756, 02.07.2015
For the price, this guitar is brilliant. I was really surprised when I got it, it played straight out of the box and the active pickups sounded better than I was expecting.

Firstly, the guitar was already in tune and didn't need any tweaking when I got it, the action was okay and the truss rod didn't need tightening. It seemed to play well straight away. The matte finish on the guitar is nice and is relatively easy to clean, overall the paint job on the guitar is very good, however there are some blemishes and you can see where some of the finish has leaked into the binding, but this is a small problem.

The guitar has great playability and the neck is quite slim, it also has great sustain and you can hold notes for a very long time, even when not using an amplifier the sound just travels. The active pickups are very nice, i was going to change them as soon as I got the guitar but after hearing them i decided not to bother. The pickups are very aggressive and have a lot of bottom end, as well as being able to easily hit the high notes. There is not a lot of feedback from them not in comparison to other pickups I have used, and you have to bear in mind they are high output as well. They are perfect for Heavy metal and Hard rock.

The Tuners are okay they are not great but they will get the job done. They have a tendency to lose tune but this is only after 30 minutes of vigorous practise and is not a major problem. The pots again , they are okay but they feel a bit cheap and there does not seem to be much of a difference in volume as you tun the volume down. It is as if there is only off and on, I don't really find it a problem as if I wanted to change the volume I would do it on my amp, its just slightly annoying. The gold hardware looks quite nice and makes the guitar look more classy. The toggle switch is very good and it has good resistance when changing position which I like. Finally I would definitely recommend this guitar, for the price its a good idea, there are just a few little problems which wont really affect the guitar. On the plus side you get nice things liek the flag inlays and the active pickups.

Oha, great

Gerd159, 11.10.2014
Very nice guitar and she was delivered perfectly adjusted. Really a splendor and even more beautiful than in the pictures. The heavy weight of the guitar immediately becomes extremely difficult. I guess 4.5 kilos and after a while on the stage certainly not quite as pleasant, but hard is good, yes I know, not always, but mostly. The string position and the neck curvature was apparently checked by the Thomann specialists and readjustiert, since I can not really imagine that the guitar from the factory so well adjusted. The whole processing is perfect, no unclean paint spots, etc. Now to the pickups: whistles and noise does not take into account the correct setting on the amplifier, I have rather the presumption, because in evaluations over the pickup is gemosert that their amplifier does not Correctly tuned to the guitar. People, that are active brachial pickups, take a little bit the Gainregler back and is good. Of course, with too much gain and without noise suppression (noise filter), the pickups can produce noise, everything else would be a miracle. Gain of the amplifier on stop, then still a booster and distortion on stop, now these biting pickups, which must be secondary noises arise. From my experience, I would not turn the tone control, with active pickups, not completely up, but before only in the middle position. To try is the motto here. I have the advantage to compare the 81/85 EMGs, directly and must say, since there is hardly any difference after my hearing.
The only small minus points: If I turn the volume control of the bridge pickup completely, the sound is still weak, or the volume controls can not be dosed quite well. But that does not bother me and it would be synonymous with a little use and new, better regulators to fix. The market strings are apparently already somewhat older, I believe that the expiration date was exceeded. Yes, there are strings !!! But since I prefer Elixir strings, this is not a problem for me. The neck is really fun, perfect measurements. The tuning mechanisms run well and keep the mood. If you consider that you had to pay for the guitar as the model of this, pays five, I can not believe that you get so great guitar for so little coal. I would not be ready for the ES ??, you know, so much to pay. If you disturb the headgear of the guitar, you can help. Get them, but considering that she is only for the tougher gait, for blues and rock I would recommend the HB 450 plus. I am developing into the HB fan and am thrilled.
So, I've finished !!!

Addendum: It is and remains a really good guitar, but not everything is gold that glitters. Meaning: the golden vocal mechanics, now after a few days of testing, are absolute scrap because they do not keep the mood very long or not at all. Have now better installed, now everything is in order. With the HB guitars, the tuning mechanisms seem to be the only major weakness, at least from my side.
