Could Be a Great Project
I couldn't resist the hype after reading all the reviews. I had always wanted a cheap but decent alternative for experimenting with 5-string fretless basses.
Unfortunately, the bass arrived with a slight crack under the nut. It could probably be fixed or glued, but that’s simply not acceptable for a brand-new instrument. The setup was somewhat acceptable, around 2 mm string height at the 12th 'fret' out of the box.
The bridge, however, had razor-sharp edges. They could be filed down, but doing so would strip the black finish.
The sound is okay, but the cheap active electronics are unnecessary. I’d rather have it fully passive without the noisy, buzzing electronics.
It could have been a great project if the neck hadn't been cracked, but unfortunately, I had to send it back.
