Plenty of tools for little money!

Mbass, 26.02.2014
The instrument came very quickly as usual.

After unpacking, the strap was followed by a strap, relief, no headache could be detected, otherwise the bass would have had hardly any chances of staying with me.

A first dry play shows a beautiful brilliant healthy sound in the first positions. The D-string was dead, the winding had probably loosened from the core. Call at Thomann, postwendd came a high-quality set of replacement strings. Thank you very much!

The sound seems to be somewhat dull, so that the height control of the 2-band electronics has to compensate almost as far as the stop. Then it sounds quite balanced. His counterpart, the bass-controller, offers a good range, it only booms with his Abusus.

The balanc controller seems to be a minimally extended switch. The effective control path for my specimen is limited to a few millimeters around the middle position.

For this the bass is quite good playable, well adjusted, scarcely scarred and this with a pleasantly flat string position. On occasion, I'll put them a little more flatter to be able to play higher positions more comfortably, but this is not essential.

All in all, I am very satisfied with this instrument, which more than fulfills my expectations for the price and the originally intended use as a session / second bass.

Initial positive surprise turned into disappointment.

17.03.2015
When I got the bass, I was really positively surprised at the processing and also the presetting was almost usable. Still a little on the strings turned and everything was good. Also sound technically I was surprised, what you get for this price. The fact that he can be operated both actively and passively was also a reason to buy. The aperture to switch between the pickups I find also very pleasant.

After 3 days, however, the disappointment: The battery has discharged, although after every use the cable was removed and it was used only about an hour a day. So complained, returned and also quite quickly a new get.

When unpacking the new bass came directly to me 3 screws from the pickups. Ok, little thing, I thought ...
However, this was not the only problem. To put it briefly: the saddle notch of the E-string is too low in comparison to the other MANY, so I had to fill up (a new saddle has to be produced sooner or later). The neck curvature was a disaster! The frets must be dressed urgently. A poti is very difficult. Meanwhile, a mechanics loses oil ...
All "little things", which did not happen with the previous bass. But now comes the biggest bang: I have now established that the new bass apparently also has a leak current, as it also discharges the battery!

I now have not only a bass with the same defect, which I actually complained, but a bass with much more errors!
I am seriously wondering how to replace an instrument complained about faulty electronics with one which is not only the same fault, but is also generally in a much worse condition.

But since I do not want to make the whole show up again, I will probably have the guitar repaired again by a guitar builder or, what is more likely, it will end up as expensive wall decoration.

This was my first and last attempt with Harley Benton. There is already a reason why good instruments cost their money. A Mondays can be caught at any time. But after complaining something much more faulty to get, is already violent.
