You have to hear this to appreciate how good it sounds

This guitar is all about the sound of high quality punchy, tight, articulate, cutting yet rounded mini humbuckers, which are combined with 50s wiring and a solid beautifully finished nitro smelling single cut Les Paul body, dark rosewood neck and a professional PLEKed setup straight from Gibson.

The sound is unique and musical. People say mini humbuckers sit between and a single coil and humbucker, and although this is in part true it is far too reductive. Mini humbuckers have their own thing, you have to try them to appreciate them. When you do I think you’d be pleasantly surprised. There is power and clarity. The 50s wiring is great, no loss of treble like modern wiring when you turn the volume down, and a pallet of really unique tones especially in the middle pickup selection position when you mix the neck and bridge pickups and tweak the tone controls. Nothing else sounds like this, it sweet and beautiful.

The wine red finish is deep and rich. The neck is straight, the nut cut just right and the action low-no buzzing fret or choking notes when bending strings. That I assume is all down to Gibsons being PLEKed at the factory before they are shipped.

This is a necessary purchase for anyone, even over a standard Les Paul with full humbuckers, especially if you come from a strat or tele background and want a fuller sounding but still punchy strat/tele that is not as dark as a standard Les Paul with humbuckers. It is not just for those who want to add a mini humbucker guitar to their collection. You will want to play and gig this once you have it in your hands. The Les Paul Deluxe is ideal for all genres of playing. Try it, then buy it.

I was a little apprehensive about buying a Gibson online - their quality control hasn't always been the best - but the Les Paul 70's Deluxe I received is a good one!
Everything is as it should, apart from some very minor scuffing on the control cavity plastic cover.
The plain top looks really nice with the translucent wine red finish. The fretboard has a nice grain. Weight is good. I haven't weighed it yet but estimate 8.5lbs.

Playability out of the box was good, but I felt the action on the bass side was a little high. I lowered it to just under 2mm at the 12th fret. Treble side was fine.
The neck profile is a rounded C and is one of the reasons I bought a 70's Deluxe: it's nicely between a vintage 50's and 60's slim taper and suits me perfectly.

The mini humbuckers are excellent! Bright and punchy, they really cut through but without any harshness.

Overall, I'd highly recommend the Les Paul 70's Deluxe - it looks and plays great!

Die wichtigste Frage sei gleich geklärt: Klingt die Deluxe wie eine Gibson Les Paul klingen soll? Antwort: Ja.

Durch die kleinen Humbucker frischer, ohne Dumpf- Gefahr, jedoch nicht beißend, Meilen entfernt vom ihr manchmal nachgesagten Telecaster- Sound. Sollte man gerade einmal keinen Marshall- Turm bei der Hand haben, nehme man einen entsprechenden Overdrive, gebe beherzt Gas und ist im Paula- Himmel.

Clean und Crunch ein Vorteil gegenüber den klassischen PAFs, da die Gitarre durchsichtiger aber noch immer druckvoll und rockig daherkommt. Nicht so brilliant wie Single Coils - das hier sind schon Humbucker mit richtig dickem Ton.

Wunderschönes Instrument, perfekt lackiert und glänzend, da geht das Herz auf. Der Hals ist unverständlich dick, für meine nicht großen Hände sind Daumengriffe bis in den zehnten Bund gerade spielbar.

Mein Exemplar kam nur mäßig eingestellt: Das ist alles in einer Viertelstunde nachjustiert, doch das ist eigentlich der Job von Gibson (oder Thomann). Kostet daher ein Sternchen bei der Verarbeitung. Toller Koffer dabei.

Fazit 1: Ein Trauminstrument, eine Rockmaschine.

Nachtrag nach längerer Zeit:
Die MIni Humbucker liegen klanglich zwischen normal großen Humbuckern und Single Coils und liefern einen ungewohnten Supersound. Hilfreich kann sein: 1. Voll klingende Saiten - ich habe mit Gibson VR10 gute Erfahrungen, 2. Amp bzw. Verzerrer sollte voll und nicht allzu klirrend sein, also eher Boogie statt Bogner, 3. In den Zwischenstellungen (beide Pickups an) liegen viele Variationen von knallhart bis cremig, 4. Diese mittenarmen Tonabnehmer kommen auch bei Verzerrung nicht verwaschen aus dem Amp, wunderbar bei tiefen Tönen, in den hohen Lagen sollte man sich vorher überlegen was man da spielt.

Fazit 2: Die "Deluxe" ersetzt bei mir Strat und Tele, die zuhause wunderbar brilliant, auf der Bühne gerade bei kleiner Besetzung jedoch mager klingen können. Fast ebenso frisch doch mit dem Wumms einer Les Paul.

Mój egzemplarz okazał się bardzo dobry. Jeśli chodzi o jakość wykonania nie ma się do czego przyczepić. No może szukając na siłę - zbyt mocno dokręcony jeden z wkrętów jednego z kluczy, ( wkręt kręcił się bez oporu ). Śladowa ilość miękkiego drewna jako klin załatwiła sprawę.
Fajny dość masywny profil gryfu, niezła waga (nieco poniżej 4kg), solidny, ciekawy sound. Więcej nic nie potrzebuję do pracy. Mini humbackery robią robotę. W połączeniu z 4 potencjometrami dają dużą uniwersalność. To mój pierwszy nowy gibson. Kupowanie gitary przez internet to trochę loteria. Nigdy nie wiesz co przyjedzie. Thomann daje jednak poczucie bezpieczeństwa. W moim przypadku obyło się jednak bez zwrotu. Pełne zadowolenie!
