Very good headphones - as long as you don’t have a bigger head.
BMic 04.06.2026
The Focal Lensys sound very good, they’re clear and accurate, with a slight emphasis on the mid frequencies, which is a very good thing for mixing. The bass is fast and present but not at all hyped. They’re closed headphones but they don’t have the downfalls that closed headphones usually have, there is no boxiness and narrow sound stage at all.
These are the good things, then comes the matter of comfort.

I was so disappointed to have to send them back that I did a little research. Apparently the average Western male cranial circumference is around 55-57 cm, measured just above the eyebrows and at the prominent bump at the back of the skull. My head is 60 cm, so on the big side but hardly abnormal. I don’t look like a walking pumpkin.
The Lensys’ side bands don’t extend down enough to the bottom of my ears. So I had to push/ stuff my ears inside the pads, which are also very much on the small size. The result is that the top band would pull my tightly packed ears upwards making these headphones a very uncomfortable fit. Had Focal added and extra centimetre or so on each side band, basically an extra click or two, and possibly made the pads an extra centimetre wider they would have been a very good fit.
It seems very strange that with all the R&D that must have gone into designing a pair of closed headphones that perform so well, they decided to make them unsuitable for a part of their potential clients.
I don’t say this in a self centred fashion - looking up “Focal headphones too small” brings up a number of similar cases, all to do with the new small Focal design, apparently the previous series were bigger.
Just for perspective my other headphones are the HEDD HEDDphone TWO, still bought from Thomann, a very old pair of Sennheiser HD600 and some equally old Beyer DT1s, all of which fit amply. As a matter of fact in two decades of professional music making I had never come across a pair of studio headphones which were too small.
So to wrap it up: the Lensys Pro are very good but make sure to measure your head before ordering them.
Thomann’s service was first class as usual, I have asked to be refunded on my account and I will use the money to buy another pair of headphones that have not undergone miniaturization.

Good quality

Sound- and build quality is good, some corrections needed at least for upper frequencies. I haven't met any such headphones which doesn't need eq correction for critical mixing so nothing new under the sun. Measurement based eq corrections not yet available from Sonarworks, Reddit/Oratory etc. (beginning of 2025).
