Extremely disappointing
I received a brand-new Eventide Blackhole and it was defective from the moment I connected it. With absolutely no input signal, the pedal produced a very loud, continuous, pure-tone oscillation through the output. This was not normal hiss or background noise — it was a clearly audible, sustained frequency that made the pedal completely unusable.
I tested it extensively in isolation, with different cables, outputs, amplifier connections and power supplies. I also performed a factory reset and updated the firmware to the latest version using Eventide Device Manager. Nothing fixed the problem.
A brand-new pedal should simply work. Unfortunately, mine never did.
I had high expectations for the Blackhole because of Eventide's reputation, but receiving a defective unit straight out of the box and having to spend so much time troubleshooting and arranging a return is extremely frustrating.
I cannot recommend this product based on my experience.
